I think any team that can string three more wins together from now on will have a good shot at making the top four. Our last home game was a poor 3-0 loss to Auckland City. We probably got off lucky with just three, beaten by a better team though we rolled over and let them dominate without much of a fight which is disappointing as we’re better than that. A few questions were asked of the players during that week’s training and the performance verse the Phoenix was a much better game. We dominated the first half and were not in much trouble until the second when Sammy khan received a red card then an unfortunate penalty was called that went against us. But that’s football - these things happen and I thought we had enough chances to win the game even in the last five with ten men. The performance was encouraging and we all know what’s at stake today against a team that have turned their season around. Enjoy the game. Cheers, Hobbo. HALFTIME CROSSBAR CHALLENGE +Face painting for the kids The team from New Zealand Football are on the ground today with a face painter and halftime crossbar challenge. Little ones can find the face painting station in the shade just under the deck. They have stencils of both the Waitakere United and Canterbury United crests so you can show your support for your favourite team. The artist will be here from kick off until halftime and face painting is free for all kids. Then, when the halftime whistle blows, NZF invite you to take on the crossbar challenge. There are prizes for anyone who successfully strikes the crossbar and all are welcome to have a go. Head to the grass pitch to the right of the main pitch at halftime and put your accuracy to the test.
