In 2019, Chief designer and professor Timothy Jacob Jensen opened Timothy Jacob Jensen Studios to realise his vision of changing the design industry.

The studio operates by a fair-share principle, offering creatives fair compensation and credit for their work. At the same time, global brands and manufacturers get easy access to skilled creative talents and design expertise curated by Timothy Jacob Jensen Studios.

Together with its associates, the studio provides creative services within the business areas of product design, brand design, architecture and fashion as well as interior, graphic and digital design.

56°37’41’’N 9°12’42’’E is the location where Timothy Jacob Jensen Studios is situated. At this incredible spot in Hejlskov, some of the most beautiful and functional craft and design objects of our time have been created since the stone age.

The exceptional architecture and remarkable setting of the studio on the shores of the Limfjord in Jutland Denmark has attracted creatives and brands from all over the world.

6 7 THE DANISH DESIGN DYNASTY

The Jensen family is the quintessence of Danish design.

Furniture architect Alfred Jensen (1899-1977) opened his shop ”Alfred Jensen & Son” in 1920. He took on his son Jacob as apprentice, who pursued further training in Industrial Design and showed extraordinary talent at the School of Applied Art in Copenhagen.

Jacob Jensen (1926-2015) became particularly well known for the groundbreaking design language he developed for Bang & Olufsen. He established his own studio, Jacob Jensen Design, in 1958.

Timothy Jacob Jensen was apprenticed to his father in 1978, and has since continued and refined the craft that has been passed down from generation to generation.

The Jensen family’s impressive, century-long creative performance has made them the most award-winning family in the design world.

10 11 TIMOTHY JACOB JENSEN

Chief designer Timothy Jacob Jensen is today’s most award-winning Danish designer.

He joined Bang & Olufsen’s team of chief designers at the age of 17. At 24, his first design was included in the design collection of The Museum of Modern Art in New York. At 28, he took over the responsibility of Jacob Jensen Design from his father. He became Chief designer for Gaggenau when he was 30.

At 48, he became a professor at Fudan University in Shanghai, and at 55 he was named Designer of the Year in China. The following year, he was appointed member of the jury for the iF Design Award 2019, one of the world’s most prestigious design prizes.

As head of Jacob Jensen Design, Timothy had the overall responsibility for all designs and initiatives created up until the end of 2018 when he sold all his shares and left his positions. He established Timothy Jacob Jensen Studios in 2019.

THE SYMBOL OF THE SUN

All creations developed according to the fair-share principle of the studios carry Timothy Jacob Jensen’s personal sun symbol as a mark of authenticity.

The inspiration springs from Timothy’s early years as an apprentice to his father, Jacob Jensen. The symbol is rooted in the very first task he was set: drawing lines and circles. The circle symbolises the cycle of life while the vertical and horizontal lines represent life and death respectively.

A closer look reveals the sun symbol as a modern monogram of Timothy Jacob Jensen’s initials.
