Join us as we travel from the cultural hub of to Bordeaux, the world’s most renowned wine region, and on to colorful Provence. Along the way, this laid-back French adventure is sure to dazzle your senses. Day Two – Pairs, France – Tour begins. Your tour opens in Paris, the “City of Light.” With your hotel just blocks from the Eiffel Tower, you are right in the center of the magic that is Parisian life. This evening, see some of Paris’s most iconic sights at night while en route to a welcome dinner at a Parisian café. (D) Day Three –Paris – Bordeaux. Experience the ingenuity of the nation’s modern rail system as you take the high speed TGV* train to the city of Bordeaux. Join your local guide as you discover this incredible city, often referred to as “La Belle Endormie” or “The Sleeping Beauty,” due to its charm that often gets overlooked by Paris and Provence. After walking through of the city, visit the newly-opened “Cité du Vin” wine museum in Bordeaux, already referred to as the Guggenheim of wine. This sensory adventure takes you on a fascinating discovery of wine culture and history, ending with a glass of wine overlooking a 360-degree view of Bordeaux. Tonight, let the charm and romance of the city capture your heart as you meander through the narrow streets on your way to a “tucked away” local restaurant. Here a chef’s tasting menu is carefully prepared with the day’s freshest ingredients; this will be a culinary moment to remember. (B, D) Day Four – Bordeaux – Medoc – Bordeaux. This morning, head to the Médoc wine region. Travel along the stunning “Route des Châteaux,” viewing the historic wine estates of the region. Along the way, stop at one of these châteaux to learn about the growth and popularity of wine production in the Bordeaux region. Savor three delicious wines along with regional snacks on the winery grounds, and learn how the regional cuisine and terroir play together to develop this perfect harmony. The afternoon is your last opportunity to enjoy the sights and sounds of Bordeaux - be sure to save time to stroll down the longest pedestrian street in . (B) Day Five. Bordeaux – Sant-Émilion – Dordogne Valley. Travel to the prominent wine region of Saint-Émilion. Your guided tour takes you through this well-preserved medieval city’s fascinating underground monuments and to the original settlement. You will also see the Trinity chapel, the catacombs, and the unique limestone monolithic church, the largest church of its kind in Europe. Continue on before stopping to discover an iconic château winery, its vineyards and renowned wine. Then, arrive for your 2-night stay on the grounds of a beautiful château in the Dordogne Valley. (B, D) Day Six – Dordogne Valley. A scenic drive is in store as you make your way to the charming local market in Eymet, one of Southern France’s iconic “bastides” (fortified towns) built in the Middle Ages. Your travels continue to , another bastide. Enjoy some leisure time to stroll through the ancient narrow streets and browse the small shops. Later, discover a beautiful renaissance château, home to a wine co-operative. Enjoy the sweeping views of the fertile valley and discover the clear differences of the wine in this region compared to those of Saint-Émilion and the Médoc. Arrive back at your château this evening to relax. (B) Day Seven – Dordogne Valley – Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val - Albi – Toulouse. Bid farewell to the Dordogne Valley as you make your way to Toulouse, the pink city and home of the French aerospace industry. En route, spend time in the incredibly charming village of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, set in the middle of a beautiful gorge, and made famous by the hit movie The Hundred-Foot Journey. Join a local guide who will share stories as you walk the same narrow streets featured in the film. Then it’s off to Albi, the UNESCO World Heritage site often referred to as “The Episcopal City.” Enjoy a tour in the heart of the city including a visit to the largest brick cathedral in the world, and the museum dedicated to the famous artist, Toulouse-Lautrec. Settle into your perfectly located hotel in Toulouse, a former 17th-century convent overlooking the grand . Tonight, enjoy a special dinner where you’ll learn about the regional cuisine of cassoulet, foie gras, and Gaillac wine, the oldest in France. (B) Day Eight – Toulouse. This morning it’s your choice and you get to choose how to experience Toulouse. Perhaps you’ll head out on foot with a local guide to the city’s open-air market, followed by a walking tour of some of the city’s most beloved landmarks. Or, maybe you’d prefer to choose an exciting tour of the Airbus facility, maker of the world's largest passenger airliner, and the only major competitor to Boeing. The remainder of the day is yours to relax and discover the city on your own; perhaps you will wander the streets of its enchanting Vieux Quartier lined with churches, shops and cafes. (B) Day Nine – Toulouse – Carcassonne. Today we are off to the fairy-tale village of Carcassonne. A local expert will guide you through the old city. This storybook setting comes complete with drawbridges, towers and cobbled streets. Feel like you have stepped into the pages of history with a guided stroll through its medieval alleyways. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore independently. No doubt you will want to soak up as much of this city as you can. Spend the night surrounded by old-world ambiance and ultimate comfort in your iconic hotel situated along the walls of this picturesque, fortified village perched above the valley. (B) Day Ten – Carcassonne- Pont du – Avignon- Saint-Rémy. This morning you’ll journey to Provence and the incredible village of Avignon. En route, marvel at the , the greatest surviving stretch of remaining from Roman times. Later, spend time learning the history of Avignon, often called the “City of ,” and get an inside look at the town of Avignon with your local guide. Revel in the beauty as you visit the dramatic Palace of the Popes, a center of European religion for 70 years when the Popes moved there in 1309. Tonight, enjoy a special dinner at a local restaurant, complete with a crème brulee demonstration. (B, D) Day Eleven – Saint- Rémy. Today immerse yourself in the best of Provence on a journey to some of the sights that inspired artists such as Cézanne, Renoir, Van Gogh, Matisse and Picasso. Begin with a visit to the beautiful lavender fields in Gordes and learn about this special flower at the Lavender Museum. Then head to Aix-en-Provence to discover the city that inspired Cézanne and enjoy a visit to his workshop. After free time for lunch, take a drive to the Sainte- Victoire Mountain, often a muse of Cézanne, to view Château de Vauvenargues, one of Picasso’s former residences and his final resting place.
