2010 GYMPIE GOLD CITY OPEN SENIORS tournament held March 19-21.
First tournament of the year was at Gympie and 172 entries were received. In all 40 events were conducted over the 3-days of the tournament which was ably managed by Tournament Director, Warren Arnell.

2010 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of Tennis Seniors Queensland will be held during the TSQ Sunshine Coast Champion- ships at Tewantin Tennis Club, on Sunday 19 September 2010. All members are welcome to attend.
All positions on the Management Committee become vacant and we are calling for nominations for Executive positions. Any two members may nominate any other member for a particular position on the Committee. Nominations must be on the appropriate form and signed by the person nominated and his or her nominators and must reach the Secretary no later than 3 September, 2010 . Nomination forms have been sent to all Clubs.
If a Club cannot attend the meeting, they may nominate a member to represent their Club at the AGM by completing and sending the Club Delegate Form to Secretary by 3 September, 2010 .
Nominations are also called for Queensland Selectors—3 men and 3 women—in age groups 35 to 45; 50 to 60 and 65 and over. Nomination forms have been sent to all Clubs and if you are interested in becoming a Selector, the appropriate forms should be completed and must reach the Secretary by 3 September, 2010 . Appointment of Queensland Selectors will be decided by the Management Committee from the nominees received and will be announced at the Annual General Meeting.

Tennis Seniors Australia have advised that Kym Ireland of Gympie has been appointed to fill the vacancy on the panel for Seniors Women.

A noteworthy double pun was perpetrated by a guest of a San Francisco hotel. Several chess players had formed the habit of stag- ing daily contests in the lobby and a crowd of people gathered to watch them. The manager, noting that they produced no revenue for the hotel, ordered them cleared out one afternoon.
At the height of the resultant hullabaloo, a lady asked, “What’s happened?” That’s when the guest contributed his classic: “It’s nothing, Ma’am, just the manager pulling his chess nuts out of the foyer.”

2010 DAWSON CALLIDE VALLEY SENIORS Tournament – 22 & 23 MAY
There were 96 players at this tournament which was held in Biloela. The weather was kind and it was great to have such a wide range in the age of our players with Tania Bode our youngest at 36 and Charles Roe our oldest at 91. Ten years later, at age 60, the friends again discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at the Ocean View restaurant because they could dine in peace and quiet and the restaurant had a beautiful view of the ocean.
Ten years later, at age 70, the friends discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at the Ocean View restaurant because they had never been there before.

2010 BUNDABERG SENIORS Tournament – JUNE 12-14
We had a very successful tournament with over 130 players, a pleasing number in these times. Entries were quite strong in mens’ events in singles as well as doubles. Ray West was a popular winner of the Vince Cheshire Memorial singles event. Social activities were again very well supported and the club is very grateful to our band of regular supporters. This year’s tournament also welcomed players from New Zealand and Tasmania. (Thanks to Alan Searle President /Tourn.Director)

2010 BRISBANE SENIORS CLAYCOURT TOURNAMENT – 7 & 8 AUGUST This was a new tournament played at the new George Alder Centre at Ipswich on 12 new courts with European clay surface. Players were happy with the courts and for those players representing Australia in Turkey in October, it was a good chance to practice. Brisbane Seniors conducted the tournament, with Dennis Biggs as Tournament Director with able assistance from TSQ Tournament Director, Gail Bates.
