Bronset i det mästerskapet, som hölls i just Qatar, gick till Polen som besegrade Spanien med 29-28, efter övertid, i matchen om tredje pris. Frankrike passerade i och med det senaste mästerskapet Sverige i toppen av maratontabellen och är ensamma om att ha vunnit VM fem gånger, Sverige och Rumänien har fyra VM-titlar vardera.
