SEATTLE/KING COUNTY ANNUAL FREE HEALTH CARE CLINIC OCT. 27-30 CENTER Independent creative professionals: if you are currently without comprehensive heathcare coverage consider attending Seattle/King County's free, four-day healthcare clinic October 27-30 in KeyArena at Seattle Center. This event brings together healthcare organizations, civic agencies, non-profits, and private business to provide a full range of free dental, vision and medical care to underserved populations in the region.

MUSIC COMMISSION

MEET THE MUSIC COMMISSION AT THE OCT. FILM + MUSIC + INTERACTIVE HAPPY HOUR EVENTBRITE Join us for the final FMI Happy Hour of 2016 next week, October 26 from 5 to 7 PM at Re-bar. This event will be a celebration to bid farewell to Music Commission Charter Members. It is also an opportunity to meet current Commissioners in a relaxed and fun environment. Join us next Wednesday to learn more about the work of the Music Commission and Office of Film + Music. This event is free with RSVP and open to the public, 21+.

SIFF ANNOUNCES SARAH WILKE AS NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR THE STRANGER After a year-long search, Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF), the largest film festival in the country, announced Sarah Wilke, who has been the managing director at On the Boards, will take over for interim director Christine Martin. Wilke will transition into her new position over two months, starting next Thursday, October 27 when she makes her public debut as Executive Director at SIFF's annual fundraising gala, SIP for SIFF.

KEXP HOLDS FIRST ANNUAL RECORD FAIR OCTOBER 22 KEXP Independent local vendors; labels including the Numero Group, Sub Pop, Hardly Art, and Light in the Attic; and Seattle record stores like Easy Street, Mezzanine Records, and Road Trip Records will set up shop at KEXP's first annual Record Fair October 22 from 10 AM to 8 PM. This all ages event is free and open to the public.

REGIONAL FILMMAKERS FEATURED IN FIRST ANNUAL RENTON COMIC-CON RENTON COMIC-CON Regional filmmakers Juan Mas and Jason McKee, directors of multiple episodes of SyFy Channel hit series Z Nation, will be featured guests at the first annual Renton City Comic Convention (RenCom) taking place October 28-30. Actors Lisa Coronado and Holden Goyette, also from Z Nation, will lead a Z Nation themed day on Sunday. This event is a celebration of pop culture as experienced through comic books, films, art, video games, technology, and more.

THIS WEEK'S BAND IN SEATTLE: CHRISTA SAYS YAY AND KANDY APPLE RED BAND IN SEATTLE This week's Band In Seattle features Christa Says Yay and Kandy Apple Redd. Kandy Apple Redd, continuing in the tradition of their grandfather George Clinton, take you back to the days of Motown but with a fresh urban pop flavor. They're proof that runs in the family. Then meet Christa Says Yay, whose moody grooves are accessible while sounding unlike anything else you hear these days. Band in Seattle airs Saturday nights on KSTW, CW11 @ 11.

QUINTON MORRIS TO OPEN VIOLIN STUDIO FOR LOW-INCOME STUDENTS OF COLOR SEATTLE WEEKLY Seattle University's Quinton Morris, one of two tenured African- American violin professors in the United States, has opened a violin studio, Key to Change, with branches in Renton and Maple Valley for students of color with limited financial resources. Key to Change, now accepting applications for lessons starting in November, aims to provide access to world-class private instruction to some 25 middle- and high-school students in South King County.

SEATTLE'S NOMINATED FOR ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME KOMO Veteran Seattle rock band Pearl Jam is among this year's nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, making the ballot in the group's first year of eligibility. If inducted, Pearl Jam would be the second band, following Nirvana in 2014, with roots in Seattle's rock scene to make the hall. The band had huge initial success in the 90's with songs like "Jeremy," ''," ''Alive" and "Better Man" and have gone on to be considered one of the most influential bands from that decade.
