(2) How long did they last? (3) What was done to fix the blackouts? (4) What caused them? Answer— I am advised: (1) to (4) There were no recorded power interruptions in the Galston⁄Dural area on 23 September 2006. Severe weather conditions, including strong winds, were experienced in the greater Sydney region on 24 September 2006 causing damage to the electricity network. In the Galston⁄Dural area, outages of various durations occurred as a result of damage to the network from fallen trees and windborne debris in a number of locations, including: • The Old Northern Road, Dural; • Annangrove Road, Kenthurst; • The Old Northern Road, Glenorie; • Wyoming Road, Dural. Network repair crews undertook the necessary works to fix the damage, having regard at all times to the safety of the workers during the storms. 0903 ROAD DAMAGED BY WATER—Mrs Judy Hopwood to ask the Minister for Water Utilities, Minister for Small Business, Minister for Regional Development, and Minister for the Illawarra representing the Minister for Roads— 0904 ADDITIONAL RESOURCES—MIRANDA LOCAL AREA COMMAND—Mr Malcolm Kerr to ask the Minister for Police— 0905 AMBULANCE DELAYS—SUTHERLAND HOSPITAL—Mr Malcolm Kerr to ask the Minister for Planning, Minister for Redfern Waterloo, Minister for Science and Medical Research, and Minister Assisting the Minister for Health (Cancer) representing the Minister for Health— 946 LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FRIDAY 17 NOVEMBER 2006 0906 KINGSWAY UPGRADE—Mr Malcolm Kerr to ask the Minister for Water Utilities, Minister for Small Business, Minister for Regional Development, and Minister for the Illawarra representing the Minister for Roads— 0907 PARRAMATTA LOCAL AREA COMMAND—Mr Wayne Merton to ask the Minister for Police— 0908 THE HILLS LOCAL AREA COMMAND—Mr Wayne Merton to ask the Minister for Police— 0909 AREA ASSISTANCE SCHEME FUNDING—Mr Donald Page to ask the Minister for Planning, Minister for Redfern Waterloo, Minister for Science and Medical Research, and Minister Assisting the Minister for Health (Cancer)— *0910 ROBERT WESTAWAY—Ms Peta Seaton asked the Attorney General, Minister for the Environment, and Minister for the Arts— In relation to matters raised with you by Mr Robert Westaway of Bowral, will you: (1) Meet with Mr Westaway as he requests? (2) Ensure that Mr Westaway's paternal grandmother and grandfather's death certificates are amended to include: (a) her correct birth name; (b) other discrepancies? (3) Instigate an enquiry into the identity of the person who forged Mr Westaway's mother's signature and prosecute them? (4) Ensure that any persons of any government agency who are involved in assisting or hiding this forgery are identified and prosecuted? (5) Take steps to find and produce Mr Westaway's grandmother's will? Answer— I am aware that the Registry of Births Deaths and Marriages has amended incorrect details of Mr Westaway's father. Mr Westaway has not raised any issues regarding discrepancies on the death certificates of his paternal grandmother and grandfather. The Registry has not received any evidence that supports Mr Westaway's claim that his mother's signature is forged. Mr Westaway can contact the Registrar of Births Deaths and Marriages who will arrange a meeting between specialist staff and Mr Westaway to discuss his concerns. There is no legislative requirement for wills to be held by government agencies however Mr Westaway can apply to the Supreme Court who may hold a copy of the will if probate was granted. (2) How many of these connections related to business customers? (3) How many of these connections related to private customers? (4) During the same periods, how many customers have been removed from the electricity supply? (5) How are the authorities meeting this demand by way of increased electricity generation? Answer— (1) to (5) The new $350 million gas-fired power station at Tallawarra will add 400 megawatts of generation capacity to NSW in 2008. There are also a range of other projects that have planning approval, including 600 megawatts from Munmorah. In addition, over 4,000 megawatts of gas proposals and around 2,000 megawatts of renewable generation proposals are at various stages of consideration.
