The result of Renaissance, Modernism, or Catalan , largely determines the personality of Barcelona.

Architecture, together with the applied arts, constituted the most unique and valued form of expression of Modernisme, both in terms of civic and industrial construction. A style where the curve predominates on the straight, the asymmetry, the decoration detail with the use of plant, natural and female figures. Modernist architecture in Catalonia means, on the one hand, the modernization of construction techniques (use of iron in structures, use of prefabricated elements), while conserving traditional elements (buildings with brickwork) and linking them with Gothic style with which it has a certain parallelism. It is a decorative, integrative architecture in the building of all the plastic arts.

The Barcelona Pass Modernista has been designed to give visitors a greater insight into the Catalan art nouveau, Modernisme, away from the major landmarks.

It will help to discover the least-known works of the world- renowned architects and other gems of this artistic movement. The card is valid for seven days and includes free admission to a number of buildings in Barcelona and its surrounding towns, easily accessible with public transport. The Barcelona Pass includes skip the line access to the following iconic buildings:

Visitors will enjoy an authentic modernist house with its original decoration. Casa Amatller broke for the first time the ornamental sobriety and the limits of height during the period. In the facade Puig i Cadafalch reinterpreted diverse styles and played with the asymmetries and th Chromatism. The decoration of the whole House develops a iconographic program concerning the Amatller family and the hobbies of Antoni, such as the Photography. Puig i Cadafalch skilfully combined Catalonia's home-grown art nouveau style, modernisme, based on the use of traditional arts and crafts, with a neo-Gothic style and an unusual stepped cornice inspired by the houses of the Netherlands. Some of the finest artists of the time, including Jujol, worked with Puig i Cadafalch on the project. he house retains all its original furnishings and decoration, as well as an outstanding archaeological glass collection.
