Do You Love Shrewsbury?

Do you like telling others about it? You could be the perfect town ambassador! Following a successful first year in 2019, we are now looking to recruit volunteers for the Original Shrewsbury Ambassadors 2020 programme to help visitors discover the wonderful hidden gems our town has to offer. Ambassadors are active on Saturdays (10am – 2.30pm) and Sundays (11am – 2.30pm) from April to September and there is plenty of flexibility around how much or how little time you are able to give. Based out of Shrewsbury Museum’s Volunteer Hub, with support from the Visitor Information Centre, the aim of the Ambassadors is to provide visitors to Shrewsbury with a warm welcome and a wide range of information, supplying their invaluable local knowledge to help visitors make the most of everything the town has to offer. Town ambassadors will be the face of Shrewsbury, and a very important welcome to the town for visitors. Why not get involved and be part of something special? To volunteer, or for more information: [email protected] tel: 01743 358625 shrewsburybid.co.uk/ambassadors

How Best To Prepare For Your GP Appointment

Here is how to maximise your 10 minutes Appointments:

Rehearse what you want to say…the doctor is likely to ask you “what brings you here today?” and this is an invitation to tell your key details. 01939 260210

What notes should you make about your symptoms?

What are you concerned about in particular? In a 10 minute appointment a doctor will want to discuss your most urgent or important issue.

What are the symptoms? What are the changes you’ve noticed? For example to your Prescriptions: appetite, bowel habits, energy levels or general mood. 01939 261403 Do your symptoms follow a pattern? Try to monitor how you feel over 24 hours. When did your symptoms or feelings begin?

Are your symptoms recent or have you been experiencing them for a while?

Is everyday life, for example sleeping, walking, working, more difficult because of these symptoms? prescottsurgery.co.uk

Is there any family history that you think is relevant?

Make a note of any ‘over the counter’ medicines you are taking or treatment you’ve tried.

Questions you might ask your doctor

Do I need any tests and where will these be done?

What should I do if my symptoms or health get worse?

What is the likely treatment and for how long?

Is there anything I should look out for and what should I do if it happens?

Might I need further tests?

What are the side effects of the medication you are prescribing?

As a patient group we believe that if we can all make improvements to be on time for appointments, to cancel appointments that are no longer required and to be prepared for the consultation and conversation with your doctor, then this will help save time and also create time through greater effectiveness.
