What Are Undersaddle Guitar Pickups?

Undersaddle Pickups are piezoelectric transducers that turn physical energy (string pressure and vibration) into electrical energy (amplified sound). Undersaddle pickups can be Passive or Active systems. An active system includes a preamp that increases the pickup’s output to further shape and refine the sound. They are relatively simple to install, don’t alter the tone of an instrument, and make amplifying an acoustic guitar easy and seamless.

Fishman Undersaddle Pickups are Installed...

Underneath the saddle of an acoustic guitar

By drilling a hole under the saddle to connect the pickup to the jack or optional preamp inside the body

By shaving the saddle so it remains at its original height with the pickup underneath it

Who Is The Customer?

The Matrix Infinity or AG-Series customer seeks a high quality “plug and play” method of amplifying an acoustic guitar with little to no maintenance. This customer is open to perma- nently installing a pickup, but does not want to make major modifications to their instrument or compromise it’s natural tone. What are Powerbridge Pickups?

Powerbridge pickups replace the stock bridge on a variety of popular electric guitars, and provide an acoustic guitar tone in addition to the magnetic pickup sound. Installing a Power- bridge requires little or no modification, and allows you to blend the acoustic sound with the magnetic pickups, or choose between the two.

What is the Powerchip?

Powerchip is the essential accessory for onboard mixing of your Powerbridge and magnetic pickups. This preamp with volume control features an exclusive Smart Switch that automati- cally splits the piezo and magnetic signals for stereo or mono operation. A Powerbridge works well by itself, but sounds best with a Powerchip.
