School Characteristics School Management School Management Organisation: Through the implementation of school-based management from 1999, our school has developed a management system to upgrade the quality of managing the operations and resources and planning for school development. To promote quality education and pursue excellence, the school development committee has adopted a management framework that suits the needs of students. Through the establishment of Parent-Teacher Association and Alumni Association in 2000 and 2005 respectively, teachers, parents and alumni have worked together for the betterment of our school. Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee: An Incorporated Management Committee (IMC) has been set up since the 2008/09 school year to facilitate the implementation of school-based management. The establishment of IMC provides our school with flexibility and autonomy in school operation and resource management. School Green Policy: Our school has devoted considerable effort in developing 'Healthy Schools'. A series of measures such as setting up waste categorization system and promoting energy conservation and waste reduction have been carried out. Under the Green School project, Environmental Ambassadors take measures to raise the environmental awareness among students. School's Major Concerns: We strive to build up a healthy, pleasurable and harmonious learning environment. We aim to motivate our students in pursuit of personal and academic excellence and extend their potential. Learning and Teaching Plan Learning & Teaching Strategies: Following closely the education reforms, a range of school-based curricular have been organized and implemented in our school. Through participating in cross-curricular activities, cross boundary learning activities, project learning, Internet and intranet learning, e-learning and drama programme, students' generic skills and biliteracy and trilingualism skills are fully developed. Development of Key Tasks: 1. Our school curriculum aims to equip students with lifelong learning skills and foster good reading habits through the Chinese and English Extensive Reading Schemes, the Reading Programme for Children and Youth of the Hong Kong Public Libraries and the School-based Reading Programme. 2. We make use of information technology and e-learning platforms to cater for learner diversity and enhance self-regulated learning. 3. Diversified teaching strategies, life-wide learning activities and the school assemblies are emphasized in order to promote Life and Moral Education. 4. Cross-curricular teaching and project learning are implemented to develop students' generic skills. Development of Generic Skills: Our school promotes in-depth learning and develops students' generic skills through a wide range of learning activities, workshops, project learning, and physical aesthetics and art activities. Promotion of Positive Values and Attitudes: Our life education programme, based on the Biblical truth and teachings, encompasses seven core values. Its objective is to enhance pupils' positive attitude and the ability to face life challenges. Student Support Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity: To cater for students' diverse learning, our school has offered a series of supporting services and guidance. Major items include: Tailor-made Academic Support Services, Group and Differentiated Instruction, Collaborative Planning and Teaching, Companion Reading and Teaching Scheme, Gifted Education, Social Skills Training Group, Mentor Care Programme, Peer Teaching Programme, Speech Therapy Training, School-based Educational Psychologist Service, Primary One Adaptation Programme and Pre-Secondary One Bridging Course. Whole School Approach to Integrated Education: The Student Support Team has been set up to implement the whole-school approach policies on catering for student diversity. Various programmes such as remedial classes and after-school support services are in place to enhance learning effectiveness. We also provide students' individual and group training and guidance. Our teachers and the educational psychologist hold regular meetings to discuss different cases and offer support to students. Curriculum Tailoring and Adaptation: In order to cater for learners' diversity, develop students' thinking skills and learning strategies and aim at positive values, we adopt the following measures: We practise differentiated teaching in Chinese curriculum in the lower primary. We also implement differentiated school-based English reading and writing scheme. Inquiry-based approach in teaching Mathematics is adopted to develop students' generic skills. In the meantime, STEM curriculum in General Studies and Coding Education in IT curriculum are introduced. We construct life values through life education.
