Before Egypt Jacob married Leah and Rachel Jacob’s name was changed to Israel Twelve sons born to Leah, Rachel and their handmaidens Joseph sold into slavery by his brothers & taken to Egypt In Egypt Joseph becomes a ruler in Egypt Famine brings the brothers to Egypt for food Reconciled to Joseph and family moves to Egypt Over a period of 400 years the Israelites become slaves
GOD PROVIDES A LEADER
Moses Saved from death by being put in a boat in the river Pharaoh’s daughter finds him and adopts him Grows up in Pharaoh’s house but knows his origin Gets into a fight and kills an Egyptian Flees Egypt and lives with the Midianites (age 80) Returns to save his people from slavery
EXODUS FROM EGYPT
Moses asks Pharaoh to let them go and worship but he will not let them go God sends the plagues upon Egypt The last plague, death of the first born Institution of the Passover Israel leaves Egypt TRAVELS IN THE WILDERNESS
Pharaoh pursues the Israelites Israel is protected by a pillar of fire by day A pillar of smoke by night Pharaoh catches up to them at the Red Sea God parts the waters and they cross on dry ground Pharaoh’s armies are drowned in the sea Israel journeys to Mt Sinai and is given The Law PATH OF THE EXODUS
So which way did they go? Where did they cross the Red Sea? Where is the real Mount Sinai?

After 2 years they camp at Kadesh-barnea Moses sends 12 spies into the promised land After 40 days they return All except Joshua and Caleb say it can’t be done God is angry and says they will wander in the wilderness 40 years
