helped deliver 109 investment projects of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in 20 countries, helping millions of people across Asia and the Pacifi c. $8.954 billion investments represent 30% of $29.594 billion of ADB’s total committed water investments since 2006 119.8 million people to benefi t, exceeding the 115 million people Marshall Islands target number of project benefi ciaries attributable As an indispensable instrument of ADB’s water operations, WFPF is likewise attuned to the needs of ADB’s developing member countries, such as increased support for water, sanitation, and hygiene interventions. WFPF 2020 ANNUAL REPORT1 INTRODUCTION The year 2020 marked the culmination of the objectives and operation of the Water Financing Partnership Facility (WFPF or the Facility) based on the 2007–2020 Design and Monitoring Framework (DMF) (Appendix 1). The Asian Development Bank (ADB) established the Facility on 29 November 2006 to mobilize additional fi nancial and knowledge resources from development partners to support the implementation of ADB’s Water Financing Program and, thus, help achieve its targeted outcomes by 2020: (i) 500 million people with sustainable access to safe drinking water and improved sanitation, (ii) 170 million people with reduced risks to fl oods, and (iii) 95 million people with more productive and effi cient irrigation and drainage services. Since 2006, WFPF has supported ADB's Water Financing Program to deliver quality water investments in the region by 2020, which aims to provide: with sustainable access to safe drinking water and sanitation million people targeted by with reduced risks to flood the Water Financing Program with more productive irrigation and drainage services At least 115 million of these beneficiaries are attributable to WFPF 2 The Facility is comprised of three trust funds: (i) the Multidonor Trust Fund, with contributions from Australia, Austria, Norway1, Spain, and Switzerland2; (ii) the Netherlands Trust Fund, and (iii) the Sanitation Financing Partnership Trust Fund, with contribution from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
