One of the highlights of Serra da Estrela. Linear hike with about 12 km, along the glacial valley of Loriga. With an elevation difference of about 1200m (minimum height - 830m; maximum height - 1993m), in a mountainous and almost inhospitable area, from the village of Loriga to the highest point of the mountain, the Torre. The landscape is marked by an uneven and rocky landscape, formed by lagoons, valleys and glacial hollows. The floor is in certain places uneven. It is convenient to have good physical endurance.

Recommended season: spring, summer, and fall. The slopes are steep. Difficulty scale: High. CLASSIFICATION: *** Duration: around 6 hours. Meeting point: 9 a.m. in Torre (highest point of Serra da Estrela). Trans Serrano vehicle stays here and the trip until Loriga, where the hike starts, is done in the clients' vehicle. In the end, we drive the participants until their vehicle. GPS Coordinates: 40°19'17.9"N 7°36'48.6"W

Price per person: 20€. Includes insurance, guidance, and driver’s transportation between Torre and Loriga. Minimum of participants: 8. Group discounts may be applied, contact us for further information. We offer the photo album of the activity.

For the registration to be complete must be provided the name and phone number of the person leading the group. Also, a payment of 50% is required up to 5 days in advance using IBAN: PT50004534534027764108953 (proof of payment must be sent to [email protected]). A list with the complete names and birthdates of all participants must be sent by e-mail up to 2 days in advance ([email protected]).

• On-road Lunch: 1 croissant w/ cheese and ham, 1 energy bar, 1pc. fruit, water. Price per person: 2.5€ (minimum of 10 participants); • Meal in a restaurant (Loriga or Manteigas): menu with soup, main dish, dessert, drinks, and coffee. Price per person: starting in 12.5€.

Hikers should carry water and a light packed lunch (consisting of sandwiches and fruit). It is recommended clothing and footwear suitable with climatic conditions: thermal, very breathable and lightweight clothing; a waterproof/windproof jacket; hiking trousers, that allow freedom of movements; comfortable mountain boots and hat or cap. Snow may occur in the highest points of the hike.

Long hike with steep slopes. **** 4 Stars: mountain hike with heavy weather conditions (winter weather) and/or with technical sections demanding climbing equipment. Requires physical preparation and endurance, technique and equipment.

 Insurance is included to the final price: a) personal accident insurance -includes death's coverage or permanent disability - 20.000€ and treatment costs - 3.500€ (insurance policy 202126631, Allianz Portugal); b) civil liability insurance - includes 75.000€ coverage per incident (insurance policy 203249524, Allianz Portugal).  Add to the presented prices the current legal IVA Tax.  Trans Serrano may cancel or change the activity if the weather, fitness of the participants or other conditions put in danger the safety of the group.  If, without any notification, the group does not appear or, in case of cancellation, 24 hours before the activity, Trans Serrano reserves the right to withhold or demand payment of 50% of the activity price.  In the event of a dispute, the consumer can use the CACRC (Centro de Arbitragem de Conflitos de Consumo da Região de Coimbra), on the website www.centrodearbitragemdecoimbra.com, head office at Av.
