Discography of the Mainstream Label
Discography of the Mainstream Label Mainstream was founded in 1964 by Bob Shad, and in its early history reissued material from Commodore Records and Time Records in addition to some new jazz material. The label released Big Brother & the Holding Company's first material in 1967, as well as The Amboy Dukes' first albums, whose guitarist, Ted Nugent, would become a successful solo artist in the 1970s. Shad died in 1985, and his daughter, Tamara Shad, licensed its back catalogue for reissues. In 1991 it was resurrected in order to reissue much of its holdings on compact disc, and in 1993, it was purchased by Sony subsidiary Legacy Records. 56000/6000 Series 56000 mono, S 6000 stereo - The Commodore Recordings 1939, 1944 - Billy Holiday [1964] Strange Fruit/She’s Funny That Way/Fine and Mellow/Embraceable You/I’ll Get By//Lover Come Back to Me/I Cover the Waterfront/Yesterdays/I Gotta Right to Sing the Blues/I’ll Be Seeing You 56001 mono, S 6001 stereo - Begin the Beguine - Eddie Heywood [1964] Begin the Beguine/Downtown Cafe Boogie/I Can't Believe That You're in Love with Me/Carry Me Back to Old Virginny/Uptown Cafe Boogie/Love Me Or Leave Me/Lover Man/Save Your Sorrow 56002 mono, S 6002 stereo - Influence of Five - Hawkins, Young & Others [1964] Smack/My Ideal/Indiana/These Foolish Things/Memories Of You/I Got Rhythm/Way Down Yonder In New Orleans/Stardust/Sittin' In/Just A Riff 56003 mono, S 6003 stereo - Dixieland-New Orleans - Teagarden, Davison & Others [1964] That’s A- Plenty/Panama/Ugly Chile/Riverboat Shuffle/Royal Garden Blues/Clarinet -

Fats Domino Goin' Home
“Goin’ Home” We’ll Miss You, Fats “Everybody started calling my music rock and roll, but it wasn't anything but the same rhythm and blues I'd been playing down in New Orleans.” - FATS DOMINO “As far as I know, the music makes people happy. I know it makes me happy.” - FATS DOMINO “Let's face it, I can't sing like Fats Domino can. I know that.” - ELVIS PRESLEY “Well, I wouldn't want to say that I started it (rock „n‟ roll), but I don't remember anyone else before me playing that kind of stuff.” - FATS DOMINO “Even if Fats didn‟t actually invent rock „n‟ roll, he was certainly responsible for accidentally inventing ska, and thus reggae … Antoine „Fats‟ Domino was definitely a great innovator, and richly deserves a much fatter entry in the history books.” – OWEN ADAMS On Tuesday, 3:30 a.m., October 24, 2017, New Orleans and the world lost a pioneering titan of rock „n‟ roll, “Fats” Domino. The popular pianist and singer-songwriter of the Lower 9th Ward was 89. During his career, this influential, yet humble performer sold more than 65 million records and had over 35 hits in the U.S. Billboard Top 40, including “Ain‟t That a Shame,” “Blueberry Hill” and “Blue Monday”. With producer and arranger Dave Bartholomew, “Fats” helped put his hometown on the rock „n‟ roll map. This shy lifelong New Orleanian influenced numerous artists including Paul McCartney and Randy Newman, who once confessed, “I was so influenced by Fats Domino that it‟s still hard for me to write a song that‟s not a New Orleans shuffle.” Domino‟s distinctive barreling triplet-based piano style, backed by a solid backbeat, was something exceptional, a step above traditional rhythm and blues. -

Eric Clapton

Kinsey, whose passionate curiosity, commitment, and courage brought so many truths about human sexuality into the light of intelligent discussion. Without his work, almost nothing about this topic would be known. I also acknowledge my many professional colleagues, clients, friends, and workshop participants who eagerly shared their stories with me, and repeatedly emphasized their opinions that this topic merits more research and public awareness. I greatly appreciate the comments, editing, and sensitivity to language provided by my committee chairman, Dr. Janice Epp, currently Dean of Curriculum Development at the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality. Lastly, I acknowledge my husband, Raymond Schmidt, who provided a wide range of household support and encouragement during the preparation of this paper, and my son Robert Schmidt who provided humor, computer assistance, and occasional proofreading. ii VITA As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Franceen King has had a clinical practice in Lutz, Florida, since 1981. -
