6 FULL MOON WALK with Barbara WEBER

Full-moon nights are very special - even today they offer a fascinating experience.

You’ll be amazed at how bright the night can be and how close you will feel to the heavens. Sense the magical powers of the full moon. Let yourself be enshrouded by its mesmerising silvery light, and experience first-hand one of nature’s greatest secrets. Did you know that the Celts based their calendar on the phases of the moon? Join Barbara Weber, a teller of legends and myths, on a hike across the ridge of the Dragon Hill in Mösern, and let yourself be drawn into her world of legends of Drago, the fabled stellar giant Orion and Ophiuchus, the serpent bearer. A blazing fire and a warming drink await us at the end of the hike at midnight, the time when the moon has reached its hig- hest point in the sky. Participants require good, sturdy footwear and weatherproof clothing.

This guided walk takes places regardless of weather. Should it be raining, shelter is available in the barn of the Spacklerhof farm.

TRADITIONAL FENCE CONSTRUCTION with Wendelin NEUNER

The construction of fences ranks among the oldest rural cultural techniques. Wendelin Neuner is one of only a handful of people left in Tyrol who are still proficient in this craft which was handed down as a tradition within his family. And now Wendelin invites you to gain an insight into this fascinating, time-ho - noured art.

The afternoon begins with a walk through Mösern during which Wendelin Neuner shows and provides information on numerous local fences, all constructed without the use of iron nails or screws. 10 - TRADITIONAL HANDCRAFTS are waiting for YOU!

After the walk, you have the chance to learn the tradi - tional technique of natural fence-making and weave a piece of fence yourself in Wendelin’s ‘open-air work- shop’, during which the only materials used are larch and spruce wood.

And, after your work is done, all participants are rewarded with a hearty Tyrolean snack, known local - ly as a ‘Jause’.

Fences shape the face of the rural cultural landscape.

1414 FOUR ELEMENTS HIKE natopia

Earth, fire, water and air are the elements of life.

They shape our perception of the world in which we live; indeed, they shape our entire way of thinking and feeling. Without them, there would be no life.

The division of the world into the four elements earth, fire, water and air is an ancient principle. All creatures, including human beings, are composed of four elements.

Even the Greek philosophers gave much thought to the various elements and debated, above all, as to which element was the source of the others.

This hike offers us a unique insight into the four elements from the viewpoint of a nature expert. The animals and the plants make use of the four elements for themselves and as their natural habitat.

Join us and discover some fascinating aspects of ecology, learn about the amazing adaptations made by living organisms and explore the richness of nature that exists right here on our doorstep.

MEDITATIVE HIKE with Wolfgang NEUNER-PFEIFFER

There are some experiences in life that find a place deep in our hearts. What are those enriching experiences and where and how did we feel them?

TIME is always a significant factor. With our guided meditative hikes, we want to lead you to experiences that go deeper and last longer, to moments in time that we collectively feel with all our senses and internalise. 16 Walking together, with conscious, attentive minds, we attune ourselves with the cycles of nature and allow ourselves to experience their healing effects. The ability to ‘engage ourselves’ fully is what enables us to rediscover the beauty, the uniqueness of nature. - MEDITATIVE HIKING is waiting for YOU! This is, generally, also the first step towards finding oneself - it is the movement of yourself, in your own rhythm, together with nature.

Come and join us on an absorbing and stimulating journey.

Our meditative hikes take us to places of beauty and inspiration. These oases very often hold secrets that remain hidden to our eyes and our ears. Only our hearts, when open enough, are able to experien- ce the valuable treasures that nature has to offer.

GLEIRSCHKLAMM GORGE Wood and log driving

A world of fast-flowing water and stunning gorges awaits you.

Accompanied by a Karwendel Nature Park guide, this tour takes us on a journey through the local history of the utilisation of wood. In the 19th century, the timber felled in the Karwendel massif was driven down the river to Scharnitz where it was tied together to form rafts on which commodities such as salt, pieces of farmhouse furniture or limestone were transported via waterways to large cities, such as Munich.

This nature hike takes us through the fascinating Gleirschklamm gorge and on to the Oberbrunnalm mountain hut, where we can rest and enjoy a bite to eat, before we continue through the little-known Isertal valley, past the Teufelslochklamm gorge back to Scharnitz.

When we listen to the stories, we learn to accept life for what it is - a quest .

With her gift for story-telling, Ergobanda creates a future through the power of memories.

The incredible treasure trove of myths and legends lies in every valley of our mountain homeland, just waiting for us to come and along and lift it.

The time has come for these powers from to be une - arthed and brought to light and for us to begin, once 34 more, to treat them with the creativity they deserve. Stories are like seeds. EARTH HISTORY HIKE - ICE AGE TRAIL & PUITTAL VALLEY We perceive the landscape, the mountains and the valleys as unchanging and unchangeable features. However, on a geological time scale, it’s only a short time since ever- ything was covered in ice. One day for humankind amounts to 1,000 years for the earth. Mountain ranges rose and landscapes were formed. However, traces of our earth’s past are visible everywhere we go. The book that tells the story of the history of our earth is one that unfolds right in front of our eyes - a story with innumerable fascinating chapters.

Between 19th May and 7th July, and again after 22nd Sep- tember, our Earth History Hike is devoted to the theme of the Ice Age. Through the eyes of a geologist, we can glean an understanding of rocks and landscapes. ‘Imaginative Geology’ is the motto of this hike.

The scenically beautiful Puittal valley is the destination of the summer walking route of this intriguing geological hike. The Karwendelbahn railway - a masterpiece of engineering built over 100 years ago

On 10th March 1910 the first ceremonial cut was made into the legendary Martinswand rock face to mark the beginning of the construction of the Mittenwaldbahn railway.

The railway line ‘hugs’ its way along the Karwendel mountain range, hence it is often referred to as the ‘Karwendelbahn’ railway.

Following a construction period of more than 2,5 years the Karwendelbahn - the Austro-Hungarian Empire’s 40 first fully-electrified, standard-gauge railway - went into operation on 28th October 1912 setting new standards for the further electrification of railway lines.

Marvels, mysteries and tales about the lives of our co-creatures great and small.

Unless you go out very early in the morning or late in the evening, you’re unlikely to spot much local wildlife. All creatures, however, leave traces of their presence in the form of footprints, droppings, feeding and gnawing traces, animal homes and sleeping places, sounds and smells, body material such as hair, feathers or shed antlers.

Diurnal birds, i.e. those active during the daytime, can alert us to a variety of animals by means of their various calls and, in particular, their alarm calls.

How do the lives of those animals living out there in the great outdoors differ from our lives as human beings? How can we learn to identify tracks and traces? What strategies to trackers employ? And how can we transform every walk we take outdoors into a fascinating experience?
