Local Fashion is under- stood as part of the Slow Fashion movement that aims to change the functions of fashion so that they support or lead the quest to flourish within known human and plan- etary boundaries. LOCAL FASHIONALITIES: VÄXBO LIN AND LOCAL VÄXBO LIN FASHIONALITIES: This Licentiate thesis examines, through an exploratory narrative based on new and existing research, two Local Fashionalities. Växbo Lin is a small linen manufacturer/brand in Hälsingland, Sweden, producing new heritage home textiles. WomenWeave is a handloom social enterprise in Madhya Pradesh, India, making naya khadi. Their approaches and practices are presented and discussed vis-à-vis notions of globality, locality, design management, and the quest for sustainability. The narrative aims to improve understandings of what Local Fashion LOCAL FASHIONALITIES: is, and contribute to the effort to design new fashion systems grounded in logic relevant to contemporary human needs and aspirations. Richard Scott University of Nevada Reno, Department of Anthropology/MS 096, Reno, NV 89557; [email protected] Ruth Burgett Jolie Department of Anthropology, University of New Mexico ABSTRACT During a dental study of medieval Norse skeletons from Greenland, Iceland, and Norway, a distinct pattern of wear was observed on twenty-two anterior teeth of twelve Greenlanders. Further examina- tion revealed that cultural notches were limited almost exclusively to settlement-period Greenlandic females interred at Thjodhild’s church ad( 1000–1150). But much of the conversation hasn't even focused on the launch -- it's been about the bizarre and delightful game Snapchat has made out of getting them. Rather than letting anyone buy them online, it's been dropping adorable Snap Bot vending machines around the country, providing a countdown and map on its website so fans can breathlessly await the next appearance. SNAPCHAT SPECTACLES This (potentially) artificial scarcity is all part of Snapchat's strategy. When Spectacles were first announced, CEO Evan Spiegel referred to them as "a toy," and the quest to get a pair has become a big game for ardent fans. Every few days, a new Bot machine drops; two have been in LA while the other two have been in more far-flung corners of the country. One showed up in Big Sur, on the California coast, and the other in Oklahoma at the Blue Whale of Catoosa SNAPCHAT SPECTACLES With every drop, people are tweeting their excitement and disappointment, getting their hopes up during the countdown only to have them dashed when the Bot is hundreds or thousands of miles away. And the Spectacles Twitter account catalogs all the ups and downs, retweeting fans who get their hands on the glasses and frustrated potential buyers still waiting for the Bot to show up in New York City. SNAPCHAT SPECTACLES It's proved to be a pretty brilliant strategy at driving hype: Dozens of people show up at the vending machines within minutes, and the glasses are always sold out within an hour or two.

The independent variables which are argued in this particular study is firstly, the price which shows a detailed relations with the customer satisfaction and then how consumers persuade towards the particular goods with its complete intentions.     PUTAJ – Humanities and Social Sciences Vol. 26, No.1 (January-June), 2019 Exploring Structure and Content: Genre Analysis of a Pakistani Clothing Brand Website Fizza Farrukh*& Wasima Shehzad Abstract Analyzing the genre of websites helps in understanding the minimum requirements expected out of that particular virtual space. The idea of understanding the structure and content of a well-established e-commerce website is particularly important for those who are relatively novice in the field. For this purpose, the current study investigates how a popular Pakistani clothing brand has constructed its website by keeping its potential users in forefront. The theoretical framework comprises of genre-based approaches of Swales (1990) and Bhatia (2014). Moreover, the investigation outlines how genre-based studies help in understanding the meaning-making processes prevalent in the minds of the creators of that genre. The study also compares and contrasts the studied website with other similar websites to provide an overall comprehension of this sub-genre in particular. Keywords: Female education; economic development; women empowerment; Pakistan Introduction Formulating a discourse community for the users, websites become viable mediums to disseminate information (Mohd & Ali, 2015). Beyond the fulfillment of this basic functionality, websites’ genres will vary with variation in their targeted audience (Emigh & Herring, 2005). For example, Miller and Shepherd (2004) explored blog websites in their study, and argued that this genre fulfills rhetorical needs of the users, by providing a virtual space to them for writing their thoughts. The genres of websites of business companies designated for e-commerce (i.e. online stores) have been investigated by a limited number of studies (Mohd & Ali, 2015).

    Journal of the Punjab University Historical Society Volume: 34, No. 01, January – June 2021 Ahmad Bilal * Aqsa Nadeem ** Israr Hussain Chishti*** Female Fashion Trends in Lahore Abstract The fashion of female dresses always changes with the priorities and requirements; however, social values and consumer’s acceptance are key factors in the social approval and success of a trend. This research paper explores the evolution of female fashion in Lahore and finds a rapid growth and expansion in the local fashion market, with the turn of the century. The formation of the Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design in 1994 has opened the possibilities of formal education and training in the field. Later, Pakistan fashion Design Council (PFDC) has launched fashion shows in 2010, which gave the chance to amalgamate the local industry to the international fashion designers. International fashion involvements have influenced the traditional dresses, like kameez, shalwar, saris and frocks, and transformed them to create a global appeal. Introduction A significant advancement and growth can be observed in the fashion industry of Lahore, after the year 2000, which has been reflected in the rapid transformations in the local fashion trends. This research paper explores the progression of female fashion in Lahore and discovers some of the major factors behind these advancements. Fashion can be defined as the most recent and popular style of a product, which is largely approved and accepted by the public. It also identifies the thoughtfulness and sensibility of design, and reflects the sociopolitical and economic state of a society. The historical evidences of costumes are approximating similar to the human history, and from the ancient eras, outfits are basic necessity of life.
