We are excited to now be in Europe along with Bunk Campers to take you on amazing adventures. This Rental Companion contains useful tips to assist you during your road trip. Happy travels! Covid safety during your rental As a leading global rental company, we maintain high standards for motorhome cleanliness. Please rest assured that the safety of our staff, guests and the community at large is our top priority. In line with government guidelines, we have taken extra steps to ensure covid safety both at our depots and on the road. Please read the information below to ensure you are aware of our Covid Secure policies and onsite etiquette. Preparing for arrival We are operating a limited contact collection and returns procedure. To help make this as seamless and contactless as possible, prior to arrival, guests should: 1. Check in online by submitting your driver details. You will find instructions on how to do this on your booking confirmation email 2. Confirm your designated arrival time with your pickup depot. Your branch will contact you to offer you arrival slot 3. Download the Apollo Connect App & familiarise yourself with our Vehicle Demonstration videos and How To Guides On arrival at the depot • Arrive at your designated time This is to ensure we can maintain social distancing and safety for all guests and staff • Complete the rental documentation Only 1 member of your group will go inside the depot to complete the rental paperwork. For your safety, hand sanitiser, protective screens and floor markings are in place at all locations. We will check your driving licence, passport/ID card and authorise the security deposit. • Familiarise yourself with your new home on wheels Get the keys to your vehicle. You can make yourself at home and ensure you know how to use all of the facilities. A member of our team will be on hand to answer any other questions you may have. • Get on the open road When you are ready, depart the depot for your motorhome adventure! Clean and safe All of our vehicles are deep cleaned between rentals using professional biocidal cleaners including an anti-viral fogger machine. On the road Please respect social distancing and covid safety instructions when you travel and explore in your motorhome. Campsites, supermarkets, restaurants, visitor attractions and outdoor spaces will all have policies in place for your safety. What to do if you get sick on the road? If you think you may have been exposed to COVID-19 or develop symptoms whilst on the road, it is important you: • Contact the local healthcare department; or seek emergency medical care immediately in the case of emergency. • Contact your pickup branch to discuss how to return your vehicle safely for quarantine and sanitisation. Do not let anyone else drive your vehicle, as this will invalidate the insurance policy leaving you liable for the full costs of any damage incurred. DISCONNECT ELECTRIC HOOK UP Remember to disconnect the electronic hook up cable and put it inside the motorhome. LOWER THE ROOF Elevating roofs must be lowered and REGULATIONS correctly secured. When driving your motorhome, you must give consideration to all other road users and comply with all SECURE BIKES applicable road traffic regulations. Make sure that bikes are fully secured and that the bike rack is folded and fastened when not in use. TRAFFIC If you need to drive slowly for any reason and traffic has built up behind you, pull in as soon as it is safe to do so and allow traffic to pass. (Failure to do so can result in a police fine being issued). Campsite advice Campsites provide safe, socially distanced places for you to park your motorhome at night. Like all organisations, campsites have been updating their procedures to ensure they are Covid secure and ready to welcome guests. To help keep you updated, we have put together a list of what to expect: Campsites are open! Whilst the majority of campsites across Europe are re-opening, some have made the decision to remain closed for the 2020 season. Please be sure to check with your chosen campsite. Book in advance Some regions such as the Isle of Skye in Scotland have advised that it is essential to pre-book campsites before arriving on the island. This is not only to protect guests and communities but demand is higher than usual for campsites this season. Please be sure book in advance, especially if travelling in summer, over public holidays or with children. Access to shower and toilets facilities Most campsites will open their shower and toilet facilities however, there are a number of sites across Europe that have chosen to keep these facilities closed. Please be sure to check with your chosen campsite. Guests travelling in Volkswagen campers are advised to check with their campsite in advance of booking as some campsites may only accept bookings for fully self-contained vehicles which include a toilet on board. Check onsite facilities Not all campsites will open all of their available facilities and communal areas such as receptions, shops, laundries and play areas are likely to be closed. Please make sure you bring all your essentials with you, including camping gas. Campsite advice continued... Informal/Wild Camping Local communities across Europe do remain concerned about the impact of wild/informal camping on the spread of Covid19. We kindly request that guests stay overnight at campsites to ensure social distancing and hygiene can be met. Where this is not possible, please act responsibly and follow the ‘Leave no trace’ policy. Remember that informal camping is supposed to be discrete and away from residential areas. Just because you have seen another motorhome parked up, it doesn’t mean it’s acceptable or legal. We would also highlight that putting up washing lines and setting out picnic areas in car parks is not appropriate and should be avoided. Breakdown What to do if your vehicle breaks down? A vehicle breakdown is a mechanical failure and/or problem that prevents the vehicle from being operated, or impedes the vehicle’s operation so much that it is very difficult, nearly impossible, or else dangerous to operate. • If you break down, you should consider safety first and move your vehicle away from the road as soon as possible. • Use your hazard warning lights to warn other road users. • Keep your sidelights on if it’s dark or visibility is poor. • Your vehicle is supplied with a safety kit that contains a high visibility vest which must be worn when outside the vehicle. • Stand away from your vehicle and oncoming traffic. • Keep children closely supervised. If you are on a motorway you should also: • Use the hard shoulder. • Evacuate using the doors facing away from the motorway and move away from the road. • Contact breakdown assistance (Number listed on Page 4). If an emergency telephone is nearby, use this as you can be located easily. • Watch out for oncoming traffic. • Do not attempt any repairs yourself. • If you feel vulnerable, return to your vehicle if safe to do so and re-enter by the front passenger door and lock all doors. After reporting the breakdown, please ensure you follow the instructions provided. You must also inform your pick up depot of the breakdown as soon as possible. Breakdown assistance does not cover the following: Flat tyres (require towing), flat vehicle battery, keys being locked inside the vehicle, insufficient or incorrect fuel. Breakdown assistance can attend, however they will charge you directly for the service. Damage What to do in case of an Accident or Vehicle Damage? Follow the process below for any of the following events: • Accidents of any kind, whether or not a third-party vehicle is involved.
