Jason Reitman, son of ultra-mainstream (and very successful) Hollywood director Ivan Reitman (he of Ghostbusters, Stripes and Kindergarten Cop fame) may just be able to move out from under his father’s significant shadow with this wonderful film. Jason Reitman’s breakthrough film as a director was 2005’s Thank You for Smoking, a cleverly written and very well performed black comedy that was so well pulled-off that one felt in the presence of promising new talent. It seems that feeling was correct, because with Juno, a very different film to its predecessor, Reitman has made an utterly assured and charming comedy/drama, and has drawn tremendously convincing and engaging performances from the entire cast. The talented young actress Ellen Page (who was so memorable in the confronting thriller Hard Candy) plays the titular character, an intelligent, articulate, out-of-left- field high-school student who, as our story opens, finds herself pregnant to her close friend and would-be boyfriend, Bleeker. Being smart, strong and self-possessed, Juno confronts her situation level-headedly, and decides, on reflection, that she will go through with the pregnancy and offer her child for adoption to a couple who are unable to conceive.     December 17th, 2019 - Robert Patrick, Nick Stahl, Scott Haze, Kelli Garner, Jake Weber and Tony Hale star in Vincent Grashaw’s elevated psychological horror project What Josiah Saw Robert Patrick, Nick Stahl, Scott Haze, Kelli Garner, Jake Weber and Tony Hale are starring in the elevated genre film, What Josiah Saw, which just wrapped principal photography in Oklahoma, and is helmed by Vincent Grashaw (And Then I Go / Coldwater). Written by Robert Alan Dilts, the film tells the story of a family with buried secrets who reunite at a farmhouse after two decades to pay for their past sins. Plot details are being kept under wraps. “I felt if I was ever going to do a film which scared people it would need to be one grounded in a reality that was relatable. It was one of the most unique and terrifying scripts I’d ever read and I can’t wait to share this one with an audience,” says Grashaw. Randomix Productions’ Ran Namerode is producing alongside Beth Elise Hawk through her shingle, Gemini Girls Productions. “I chose WHAT JOSIAH SAW as our inaugural film project, because the script was so strong on the page. What Vincent did in his execution during production exceeds all expectations,” says Namerode. “We are humbled by the performances of this exceptional cast!” says Hawk. Bernie Stern and Vincent Grashaw are also producing. Angelia Adzic and Cole Payne are executive producers.     A Film by John Madden Production Notes Synopsis Even the best secret agents carry a debt from a past mission. Rachel Singer must now face up to hers… Filmed on location in Tel Aviv, the U.K., and Budapest, the espionage thriller The Debt is directed by Academy Award nominee John Madden (Shakespeare in Love). The screenplay, by Matthew Vaughn & Jane Goldman and Peter Straughan, is adapted from the 2007 Israeli film Ha-Hov [The Debt]. At the 2011 Beaune International Thriller Film Festival, The Debt was honoured with the Special Police [Jury] Prize. The story begins in 1997, as shocking news reaches retired Mossad secret agents Rachel (played by Academy Award winner Helen Mirren) and Stephan (two-time Academy Award nominee Tom Wilkinson) about their former colleague David (Ciarán Hinds of the upcoming Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy). All three have been venerated for decades by Israel because of the secret mission that they embarked on for their country back in 1965-1966, when the trio (portrayed, respectively, by Jessica Chastain [The Tree of Life, The Help], Marton Csokas [The Lord of the Rings, Dream House], and Sam Worthington [Avatar, Clash of the Titans]) tracked down Nazi war criminal Dieter Vogel (Jesper Christensen of Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace), the feared Surgeon of Birkenau, in East Berlin. While Rachel found herself grappling with romantic feelings during the mission, the net around Vogel was tightened by using her as bait. At great risk, and at considerable personal cost, the team’s mission was accomplished – or was it? The suspense builds in and across two different time periods, with startling action and surprising revelations that compel Rachel to take matters into her own hands.
