We are very happy to be hosting committees during this strange year and would like to thank you for giving this online thing a shot. I am very excited to be a chair for this specific committee because a few years ago I did a similar committee which was at my first Model UN conference. I have been a part of Model UN for 3 years and have gone to a few high school conferences and two college conferences which includes NAIMUN and WMHSMUN (Georgetown and William & Mary). It was very interesting to hear different things from people across the country instead of the state. I know that we can have a very good discussion on the topic today as NFL CTE. Please send me your position papers at my email address below so that I may consider them for awards. PBS' Nightly Business Report Debuts “Beyond the $Coreboard – Behond
PBS' Nightly Business Report Debuts “Beyond the $coreboard : Behind the Scenes at the Super Bowl” Special program airs January 17 Miami, FL (January 13, 2011) -- PBS' Nightly Business Report (NBR), the award-winning business news television program, today announced that it will present its first-ever program devoted to a sporting event, “Beyond the $coreboard: Behind the Scenes at the Super Bowl.” This special NBR Edition, hosted by sports business expert Rick Horrow, will give viewers a look at the business of putting together America’s most-watched sporting event and its far- reaching economic impact. It will be broadcast on Monday, January 17, the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Check local listings for station and airtime. “The Super Bowl has become so much more than two teams vying for supremacy in the National Football League, it has become a key driver of business,” said Mykalai Kontilai, Chairman and Chief Executive of NBR Worldwide. “Hundreds of millions of dollars are at stake and much of it rests on successful execution of this marquee sporting event.” In the 2010 Super Bowl, the New Orleans Saints’ victory over the Indianapolis Colts became the most-watched program in American television history, with approximately 106.5 million viewers. Beyond the action on the field, Super Bowl Sunday has become a landmark day for television advertising and generates a boom in food and beverage sales. For example, more pizza is sold in the U.S. on Super Bowl Sunday than any other day of the year. In “Beyond the $coreboard: Behind the Scenes at the Super Bowl,” Horrow will give viewers access to some of the most influential and important people involved in planning the big game, including interviews with Frank Supovitz, the National Football League’s Senior Vice President of Events, and Lawrence Randall, the League’s Director of Programming. -

J.D. Power Finds MLS and NHL Teams Outscore NFL Teams in Fan Experience
J.D. Power Finds MLS and NHL Teams Outscore NFL Teams in Fan Experience Of 11 Markets Studied, NFL Teams Finish Last in Each One COSTA MESA, Calif.: 16 Aug. 2017 — Major League Soccer or National Hockey League teams perform highest in 10 of the 11 markets included in the J.D. Power 2017 Fan Experience Study,SM released today, while an NFL team scores lowest in every market. The study measures fan satisfaction with their overall experience at major pro sporting events. In last year’s inaugural study, only teams in the nation’s four largest markets—New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston—were evaluated. This year, Bay Area, Boston, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Philadelphia, South Florida and Washington, D.C. have been added, while Los Angeles has been expanded to include all of Southern California. Fan satisfaction is evaluated across seven factors (in order of importance): seating area and game experience; security and ushers; leaving the game; arriving at the game; food and beverage; ticket purchase; and souvenirs and merchandise. Satisfaction is measured on a 1,000-point scale. Additional factors that are measured but not included in the official ranking are loyalty and future intentions; team performance (on- field); and team image. The Houston Dynamo, Los Angeles Galaxy, New England Revolution, New York Red Bulls and Philadelphia Union score highest in their respective markets, while the Chicago Fire, FC Dallas and San Jose Earthquakes score second highest. The only MLS teams that buck the trend of rabid fan satisfaction are the Colorado Rapids and New York City Football Club (third) and DC United (fourth). -

Commissioner Tagliabue Press Conference Special League Meeting Dallas, Texas March 8, 2006
Commissioner Tagliabue Press Conference Special League Meeting Dallas, Texas March 8, 2006 We just concluded two long days of meetings. Last night we went until about 1 a.m., and this morning we started around 7 a.m. and finished at about 6:59 and 59 seconds before the 7 p.m. deadline. The membership approved the Collective Bargaining Agreement and accepted the offer of the Players Association for the six-year extension of the Collective Bargaining Agreement by a vote of 30 in favor and two voting against. It was really a tremendous effort by owners across the entire spectrum of the league, no matter how you define the spectrum – whether it’s in terms of longevity, whether it’s in terms of big-market, small-market or high-revenue, low-revenue. Everyone came together after these two full days of discussions and reached a consensus not only on the Collective Bargaining Agreement, but on some major new revenue-sharing features to support the ability of all teams to function well under the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The consensus was forged really by all 32, but nine teams worked this afternoon to take two different concepts that had evolved over the last two days and meld it into one concept. The first concept had been developed in the last two days by the New York Jets and the New England Patriots, Woody Johnson and Jonathan Kraft. The second concept had been developed by the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens, particularly Art Rooney and Ravens President Dick Cass. Then over the luncheon hour, three other owners spoke with me about a concept for putting together the two proposals, the two different sets of ideas, and a process to take the Jets-Patriots concept and the Ravens- Steelers concept and blend it into one. -
