Barcelona Is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Spain, it has everything to please the majority of visitors: with a history among the oldest in Europe. The variety of artistic treasures, the Romanesque churches and the great names in modern art and architecture, Dali, Gaudi, Miro, Picasso. Barcelona sited between the sea and the mountains, has found a formidable balance: a foot in the traditional things and the other in the avant-garde. Barcelona has the reputation of being the most cosmopolitan, modern and avant-garde city in Spain. It also stands out as the birthplace of one of the best football clubs in the World: FC Barcelona. We can organise excursions for you, both a city tour or a tour of the fantastic Camp Nou PortAventura World is an entertainment resort built around the PortAventura Park theme park, which attracts around 3.5 million visitors per year, making it the most visited theme park in Spain and the sixth most visited theme park in Europe The resort includes a second theme park, Ferrari Land and also includes PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park. These two other attractions make it the biggest resort in the south of Europe which attracts around 5 million visitors per year. PortAventura Park features five theme areas based on civilisations (Mediterrània, Far West, México, China and Polynesia), and one theme area based on Sesame Street. Mediterrània is the main entrance area of the park. Main rides include: • Furius Baco, an Intamin Accelerator Coaster with winged seating and a top speed of 83.9 mph. • Grand Canyon Rapids, a whitewater river rapids ride along the Grand Canyon. • Hurakan Condor, an Intamin drop tower ride. This ride is one of the tallest in the world at 330 ft. • Dragon Khan, with 8 inversions this formerly held the record as having more inversions than any other roller coaster. It also held the world record for the tallest vertical loop on any roller- coaster. It consistently ranks among the world's best roller coasters in polls. • Shambhala, this B&M hypercoaster beat three European records as it was the fastest (80 mph) and tallest roller coaster in Europe. It is 76m tall and had longest drop in Europe at 78 m (2 m underground). Ferrari Land. InvestIndustrial and Ferrari signed a deal to build a new area themed to the Italian sports car brand in the PortAventura resort covering 75,000 m2, including new rides, a 250-room hotel with restaurants, shops and car racing simulators. Ferrari Land is the resort's second theme park, separate from PortAventura Park. Its entrance is adjacent to PortAventura Park's main entrance. The Mediterranean theme is common to both entrances, as Ferrari Land is inspired by Italy, including recreations of Venice's Piazza San Marco and Rome's Colosseum. The main ride of Ferrari Land is a 112 m tall vertical accelerator coaster that surpassed Shambhala as the tallest coaster in Europe and is also the fastest coaster in Europe. The park was opened on 7 April 2017, after an investment of more than €100 million. Ferrari Land opened a kids area in 2018. • Does It Have Fur Or Feathers? a Categorisation of Theme Park Attractions
Does it have fur or feathers? A Categorisation of Theme Park Attractions Author: Frank Cornelissen Author ANR: U0396714 Supervisor: Pieter Cornelis 2nd Reader: Greg Richards Date: August 17th, 2010 Tilburg University Tilburg School of Social and Behavioural Sciences Department of Leisure Studies Preface & Acknowledgements One should think that the concept of ‘once bitten, twice shy’ would apply after finishing my bachelor thesis, yet a little over four months ago I once again found myself at the beginning of what then seemed an impossible task. The goal? To devise an empirically founded categorisation of theme park attractions. That task may seem simply at first, but when looking at attractions in the likes of, to name but a few, Tower of Terror, Hocus Pocus Hall, The Flying Dutchman, Lisebergtower, Hex or Dragon Khan, it will seen become apparent that each and every of these attractions is highly unique. As the seemingly endless imagination and the incredible skills that come into play in converting the most impossible of ideas into reality was part of what raised my interest in the theme park industry many years ago, that didn’t come as a surprise. It did, however, make things considerably more difficult. Luckily, I wasn’t on my own in taking on this challenge. First and foremost I would like to thank my supervisor Pieter Cornelis; I would not have been able to finish my thesis without his support, guidance, wisdom and ruthless criticism. I sincerely appreciate the advice Fetene Tekle, Marie-Anne Mittelhaeuser and especially Theo van der Weegen have given me regarding statistics in general and dimension reduction of dichotomous data in particular.

  • Attractions ENG FINAL
Speed to the limit this season with PortAventura PortAventura, Spain’s first amusement park is celebrating its 15th Anniversary this year. The park offers more than 30 attractions and is perfect for those looking for a fun and exciting holiday this season. PortAventura’s theme park stretches across 117 hectares and takes visitors through five magical areas inspired by the world’s continents: Mediterrània, Polynesia, China, Mexico and Far West. Across these five areas are 75 restaurants, 28 shops and ten entertainment areas. The park also hosts over 100 live shows for visitors every day. Mediterrània welcomes visitors to the park and takes them through the narrow streets of a small village by the Mediterranean shores. Mediterrània’s flagship attraction is Furious Baco, where daredevils can accelerate from 0km/h to 135 km/h in three seconds. In the Far West, visitors will find themselves taken back to the year of 1876 where the town of Penitence, Texas is celebrating Independence Day. The Stampida rollercoaster promises to make even the bravest person scream and will immerse riders in the middle of a truly chaotic buffalo stampede in the Texan desert. Another feature of the Far West is the Wild Buffalo crash cars. To experience the power and rush of the Colorado river, take a ride on the Silver River Flume, where visitors can speed down river rapids. As one of the park’s most popular attractions, this is not to be missed! The little ones can also get into the Far West spirit and go on the Grand Canyon boats, ride the Buffalo Rode cars or zoom around on the Tomahawk, the children’s version of Stampida.
