Dr. Edmund Stoiber Bavarian Minister-President a. D.

Born on 28th September 1941 in , County of , roman catholic, married since 1968, three children. After graduating from high school and completing his military service in the Mountain Division in Bad Reichenhall and Mittenwald, studied law and political science at Munich University and the Academy of Political Science.

Subsequently scientific assistant in the Chair of Criminal Law and Eastern Law at the . Until 1976 District Chairman of the Junge Union young conservative party of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, since 1976 a member of the Regional Executive Board of the CSU Christian Social Union party of Upper . Between 1978 an 1984 a Member of the District Council of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen. From 20th November 1978 to 1st April 1983 Secretary General of the Christian Social Union in Bavaria. From November 1989 to October 1993 Deputy Party Chairman of the CSU and from November 1989 to November 1993 Chairman of the Basic Policies Commis- sion of the CSU. Member of the Bavarian Parliament (Landtag) from 1974 to 2008.

After passing the 2nd State Examination in Law in 1971, joined the Bavarian State Ministry of Regional Development and Environmental Affairs. Between 1972 and 1974 Personal Advisor to the State Minister and ultimately Head of the Minister’s Of- fice.

From 27th October 1982 to 30th October 1986 State Secretary and Head of the Bavar- ian State Chancellery. From 1986 to 1988 State Minister and Head of the Bavarian State Chancellery. From 1988 to 1993 Bavarian State Minister of the Interior.

From 28th May 1993 to 30th September 2007 Bavarian Minister-President. Since 16th January 1999 to 29th September 2007 Chairman of the Christian Social Union in Bava- ria. Since 29th September 2007 honorary Chairman of the Christian Social Union in Bavaria.
