1. Have a look at the Edinburgh Green Map.
2. Try to make your own green map of your walk to school or your area. Think about what to put on your map, for example our map not only shows green spaces but also “green landmarks” such as solar panels on buildings and allotments. Have a think about what there is in your area that is trying to help people be more sustainable?
3. What do you think of the Edinburgh Green Map?
4. Do you think that Edinburgh has a lot of green space in the City Centre?
5. If you had the chance, how would you improve the green space?

6. Up the top of the map it says “Leave your car at home and explore Edinburgh on foot”, why do you think this is important?
7. Can you think of any other slogans that could encourage people to be more sustainable?
8. On the bottom right hand side of the map there is a big green area marked number 3, can you work out what this is?
9. What do you think might be the problems with changes in the environment to Holyrood Park?
Holyrood Park is a Site of Special Scientific Interest because of its diverse plant and animal life and geology. The park has been effectively unchanged since its enclosure as a Royal Park in the 16th century; it is rich in plant species and also provides a home to a variety of important invertebrate, amphibian, mammal and bird species. Any changes in the environment, even small, may have a major impact on the plants and animals that live and grow in Holyrood Park.
