Habits which are learnt at a young age are imbibed easily and become a part of one's personality.Good hygiene promotes self-confidence, enhances a positive self- esteem, promotes self-awareness and a positive mental outlook. It is true that 'health is wealth'. But it is a matter of regret that most of us do not realize it. Awareness of cleanliness and personal Hygiene is the need of the hour in our country. Though health is now recognized as a fundamental right of every human being, it is essentially an individual responsibility. It is the individual who has to accept certain responsibilities in order to maintain health like taking responsibility for a good diet, personal hygiene, cultivation of healthy habits and taking disease prevention measures. There is a dire need to educate and sensitize people to the importance of cleanliness. Educational institutions can play a vital role in this matter as students are the future citizens of the nation. A small step from each Indian citizen is a giant leap towards fulfilling the purpose of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Clean India’ campaign. At this point, I would also suggest students to take up at least one hobby and sport along with their academics. Nothing could be further from the truth than this notion that hobbies and sports are a waste of time. Academic subjects and extra-curricular activities complement each other and develop a well-rounded, socially skilled, and healthier student. Students who are involved in extra-curricular pursuits tend to improve their academic grades, are more motivated and manage their time more effectively. This helps improve their critical thinking, teamwork and social skills. Students are the young intelligent seedlings of the human civilization. While it is true that academics should be given priority because of the need to acquire knowledge and the basic competencies of learning, education is not bounded by the classroom. It extends beyond formal education to a bigger world of learning called life. Let us all be partners to the holistic development of the students as we proceed on our journey towards excellence and reach for the best in us! CLEANLINESS DRIVE Cleanliness: like most great things, one must cultivate a taste for it. To give our students a clear vision of how important it is to be healthy and keep our surroundings clean DPS Bopal induced a Cleanliness Drive on July 20th 2015 for primary school, where the students donned their aprons and gloves and pledged to clean up their classrooms and their surroundings in their premises. They even extended to clean up the cabin of the Principal and all the dignitaries and the teachers‟ staffrooms. They shared their knowledge about some indoor plants that would purify the rooms. Further they acquired signatures of all the Heads on an oath chart indicating a pledge to keep our school clean, giving a new meaning to DPS - D for Dirt Free, P for Pollution Free & S for Stress Free. Children prepared charts with slogans and quotes on cleanliness. They rejoiced throughout the cleaning spree, understanding the importance of clean surroundings and learning about the preventive measures and also concluding for themselves that „Cleanliness is the heart of achieving the goodliness.‟ Page 5 of 36 MasterMindz #August NON CONVENTIONAL ENERGY: SESSION ON SOLAR ENERGY We all are aware of the growing need for alternative source of energy as we cannot depend on earth‟s resources of fossil fuel in long run. It is estimated that the earth‟s fossil fuel resources shall be available to us only till 2050. In such a grim scenario, when our lives are wholly dependent on energy for all activities, it becomes extremely important that we look for an alternate source for our future needs. In order to educate the students of DPS, Bopal a session was organized by the Green Drive on 30 July 2015. Mr. Ashok Patel, Sr. Manager Adani Infra India Ltd. along with Mr. Santosh Kumar Sinha Euro Premium Solar system, Channel partner explained how solar energy could bring about a visible change in the consumption of electricity. Students were amazed to know that solar power could run so many appliances at home as well as industries, leaving a profound impression on the young minds. Students were enthralled to see the solar panel which could convert the solar energy into Direct Current. Students also satisfied their queries in the interactive session after the presentation. They were motivated and enthused with the idea of using solar power and wanted to spread their learning to their parents and community about the viability of running appliances on solar power most of the time with minimum dependency on power grid, thus contributing to greener footprints. 22 students of Classes IV and V attended the session. Ms. Pooja Bachani and Ms. Sushma Saini attended the session from Primary. Page 6 of 36 MasterMindz #August CAMPUS UPBEAT - EVENTS Yalli Ho !!
