While some of the story elements were charming or interesting, the whole story was disappointing. It was disjointed and strange, but not in a fun way. The author clearly does not like Peter Pan in Scarlet understand children. It was like "Peter Pan" meets "Lord of the Flies". Peter Pan is an unpleasant bully here, and too much real life war, environmental poison intrude on Neverland. Not for children, but not for adults either, this story was pretty unsatisfying.
