APPROVED VEHICLES FOR CITY LICENSED TAXICABS Updated June 2,2016
The following is a list of approved vehicles that may be used as a City of Chicago licensed taxicab. BACP recommends that taxicab medallion license holders FIRST confirm that the vehicle is on the most current approved list for use as a licensed taxicab vehicle BEFORE buying the vehicle. ►NOTE: this list is frequently updated and a vehicle not listed on the most current approved list will not be licensed as a taxicab even if it may have been listed on an outdated list.
If a vehicle is not listed below and meets the mandated criteria for use as a taxicab, submit a Public Passenger Vehicle Review Application for Taxicabs form available at www.cityofchicago.org/bacp. A vehicle may only be licensed as a taxicab vehicle if at a minimum it meets the requirements of Section 9-112-070 of the Municipal Code of Chicago regarding vehicle specifications including, but not limited to, vehicles having a manufacturer's rated seating capacity of nine or less persons, including the driver.
All Miles per Gallon (mpg) are based upon the “combined” city and highway mile estimates as published at www.fueleconomy.gov for the specific make, model, and year vehicle. Where the www.fueleconomy.gov Web site does not publish the “combined” vehicles estimated MPG, the calculation used will be the published city + highway estimates divided by 2. See MCC 9-112-230.
