1.0 HIGHLIGHTS OF THE LAST 8 HOURS

 Major landslide at Dreketi Village  Relocation of Nausori Health Centre to Vunivivi  Public are frequently advised to take heed of heavy rain and strong wind warning for the Northern Division as of today  Rain has subsided in many areas of the Central Division.Flash flooding and landslides are increasing as a result  Evacuation Centres are increasing due to the massive flash floods in Tailevu North

4.0 DIVISIONAL PROGRESSIVE UPDATES

4.1 CENTRAL DIVISION  Rain has subsided in many areas of the Central Division.  Flash flooding and landslides are increasing as a result.  Evacuation Centres are increasing due to the massive flash floods in Tailevu North.  Preliminary Agriculture Assessment conducted in Serua/Namosi revealed that significant damages were sustained to the major marketable commodities namely Dalo, Cassava, Ginger, Watermelon, Kumala and Assorted Vegetables amounting to $52,545.00 – Affected areas are Vakabalea, Viwawa, Narara, Vunibau Vill., Saniveiuto Vill., Sadro Vill., Tokotoko, Nakaulevu, Waidradra, Raiwaqa, Wainiveidio, Togoru, Taiperia, Vakacegu, Vuninokonoko, Rovadrau, Waikalou and Calia  Figures are detailed below

5.0 EASTERN DIVISION The Eastern Division reported a total of 326 evacuees with a total of 38 Evacuation Centres billeting people from the affected areas.

6.0 Northern Division

The Central Business District is operating as normal in the whole Northern Division. The Northern Division remains overcast with maximum rain rate of 47.9mm/hr to 60.3 mm/hr last night and this morning with poor visibility in areas of heavy rain. Also part of the Division is also experienced an average of 25 -30kt wind gust whist others are normal during the mid-day. The Patterson Shipping Services with Gounder Shipping Services is operating as normal except for Bligh Waters Shipping which advised voyage cancellation till further notice.

6.2 CAKAUDROVE

1. Saqani Report: Weather from 2200-0800hrs experience continuous rainfall and heavy at times. 2. Currently experience light showers and heavy rainfall at times as well as Tukavesi and Saqani District.

3. Roads drainage has become to overflow due to down heavy rainfall at times.

4. Bagata crossing has been underwater due to rapid rise of water level. 5. Currently Half road closed at Delaivunimoli in Loa and also Vatuvonu road has been closed due to fallen coconut tree and as at in Marikaba Sett, Navonu, land slide occurred resulted to the closing of the roads. 6. Half road closed at Mataikoro due to sliding coconut tree. Won’t be accessible to buses or large vechiles. 7. Nanuca has been cleared except for the flooded road and entry into the village. 8. Crossing at Drekeniwai has been under water and closed off. Not accessible. 9. Currently contractors are working for the clearing of the road which has been closed due to land slide and fallen trees. 10. Vunisavisavi crossing still flooded. 11. No contacts through to village and to office phone at Saqani District. 12. No complaint received so far from public. 13. No evacuation centre opened yet in the province.

6.2.1 PREPAREDNESS:

Equipment: 14. TFL systems operational to some areas. 15. Savusavu standby generator checked and is operational. 16. Tukavesi generator being installed but the technicians still working on it.

Human resource:

17. All officers remain on standby at their respective stations. [Nacanieli R/PAC/Deo/] 18. The office shall provide the next update at 1300 hrs if weather been experiencing remains the same but will provide next update on hourly basis if weather worsens.

6.3 TAVEUNI

CURRENT WEATHER SITUATION Continuous slight showers but heavy at times throughout the Island till this hour.

This also includes the Maritime Islands, Yacata, Yanuca and Qamea who are experiencing continuous slight showers but heavy at times.

SITUATION REPORT Major landslide at Dreketi Village Qamea. 1. Primary School totally damaged 2. Health Centre displaced and thrown out to the sea 3. Community Hall totally destroyed and displaced. No injury yet to be identified. Communities affected have been moved to safer grounds by Turaga ni Koro.

Togo Village, Qamea Island. 1. 2 Houses also displaced due to landslide – 1 adult injured taken to the hospital.

Naivivi Village, Qamea Island. Naiviivi Primary Evac Centre – 10 people- 3 adults, 6 children and 1 baby are now staying in the school due to flooding.

A government team led by DO Taveuni will be moving across to Qamea as soon as weather and sea permits.

6.4 MACUATA Heavy rain experienced from last night and early this morning resulted in flash flood to rivers in the Labasa area. Summary of flash flood listed below. 1. Qawa Crossing –Bulileka – close to all traffics due to flooding.

2. Dreketilailai Crossing –Bulileka –close to all traffic due to flooding.

7.0 Fiji Roads Authority

FRA reports the following:

 Landslide closed road from Nabouwalu to Daria.  Taveuni flooding overnight resulted in most roads closed.  Rabi Island roads - several slips reported closing roads there.  Kings Road is CLOSED due to flooding at Korovou Town, Wailatua and Naqia Bridge (approx. 10km before Nabulini).  Kasavu Landslide, located north of the Kasavu/ Baulevu Road Junction on Kings Road is under 24 hour monitoring. Currently open to traffic and operating as a single lane with potential for full closure if there are further slips.  All of Queens Open - single lane in places but open to traffic.  Rain has stopped in West but Rakiraki Town still closed with Flooding.  Access has been restored at Davuilevu Farm Road. 17

 Some more roads are now closed in the Central, Northern and Western Division due to surface flooding on some urban and rural roads however the main arterial roads.  Kade to Navaga, Koro Circular road is closed with alternative access still available from both sides, subject to flooded crossings in between. Awaiting floodwaters to recede.  Increased number of potholes on the road network and the contractors will be carrying out remedial work as soon as the weather clears up. Motorists are advised to drive with extreme caution during this time.  Please obey road closure signs and do not drive into water of unknown depth and current, as this can be life threatening.
