ACF assists in a multitude of areas, including: Championing community needs and improved outcomes Building the capacity of nonprofits through grants and collaboration Promoting philanthropy and volunteerism Providing community support, from youth program scholarships to senior emergency assistance During Fiscal Year 2018-2019, the Anaheim Community Foundation continued to provide the means for people, organizations, and corporations in “Building Community through people, partnerships, and pride” in Anaheim. Under the direction of a volunteer Board of Directors from the Anaheim civic and business communities, the Foundation linked citizens who wanted to give with neighbors who are in need of assistance, thereby enriching the community’s charitable spirit. Since its 1984 incorporation, the Foundation has continued to expand and provide leadership to meet community needs. The Anaheim Community Foundation Board of Directors continued to offer a well-managed non-profit organization that acts as a community vehicle for accepting donations of property, money, or securities from individuals, organizations, and corporations. All contributions are returned to the community. Managing assets averaging $1.5 million this fiscal year, the Foundation received $675,000 in donations and provided $335,000 in support to enhance programs and services that met human needs and aided local groups. ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS A RESULT OF ITS LEADERSHIP AND REPUTATION FOR SOUND FISCAL MANAGEMENT, THE FOUNDATION’S ROLE AS A COMMUNITY ASSET CONTINUED IN FISCAL YEAR 2018-2019. The Anaheim Hive In this fiscal year, the Anaheim Community Foundation also launched “The Anaheim Hive,” a partnership with the Samueli Foundation. This innovative shared workspace is designed to build the capacity of nonprofits and strengthen collective impact. As a hub for nonprofits, The Anaheim Hive is a place to meet, work, and collaborate, featuring common area desks, workstations, offices, conference meeting space, WiFi, and many other useful amenities. The Anaheim Hive promotes opportunities for trainings and collaboration among the nonprofit community. To learn more, visit anaheimcf.org/the- hive. Youth Scholarships The ACF was able to continue this important program in thanks to major funding from the Disneyland Resort, D.E.V.O.T.E., and donations from individuals and businesses. Over 400 youth received financial support to attend a recreational class or camp during all four sessions. Anaheim Transportation Center For over a decade, funds raised at the City of Anaheim Transportation Fair/Chili Cook- off have benefitted the ACF programs at Oak Canyon Nature Center. Contributions of $1,000 were received from the Employee Giving Campaigns. Project SAY (Support Anaheim’s Youth) Youth Development Project S.A.Y. is the City of Anaheim’s Youth Development Program and uses a combination of outreach, recreation, sports, academic support, and individualized guidance to engage junior high and high school-age youth in positive and constructive activities that help them develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for their successful transition to adulthood. The Foundation managed funding that provided 850 youth with the opportunity to participate in twelve Youth Leadership Conferences, twenty-two educational workshops, multiple field trips to local museums and theaters, and many hiking activities. Tiny Tots Academy The Tiny Tots Academy provides a nurturing educational environment for children to acquire the skills necessary for kindergarten by providing hands-on experiences inside and outside the classroom. The program assists children in their emotion, social, and intellectual development so they may fulfill their own potential. The Foundation managed $3,238 in support with $926 received from the Employee Giving Campaign and $2,312 generated through fundraising efforts. Youth Park Playground Programs With $96,312 of Foundation managed support, youth programs continued to provide free after school activities and homework help through the S.T.A.R.S. program, special events, and the “Fun on Wheels” mobile recreation programs to the Anaheim Community. Over 80,000 children participated in these programs this past year. Youth Scholarships for Recreation and Personal Enrichment Programs During this fiscal year, the Foundation provided 433 recreational youth scholarships totaling $22,813 to families who met residency and income criteria.
