Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Reminder List of Eligible Releases for Distinguished Achievements during 2006 http://www.oscars.org/79academyawards/reminder/ Reminder List of Productions Eligible for Awards All films that have qualified for consideration for 2006 Academy Awards in the non-specialized categories are listed alphabetically by title. Voters making selections in their own branch categories list only film titles on their ballots, not the individuals responsible for the various achievements. For that reason, as well as for reasons of printing time and convenience of using this pamphlet, full credit rosters are not provided for the listed films. An exception to the above exists in the four Acting categories, where simply listing titles would not provide enough voting information. Actors Branch members filling out their Nominations ballots must indicate both titles and the particular performers they are voting for. For that reason, the Reminder List provides a listing of up to fifty cast members for each film. Pictures eligible in the Animated Feature Film, Documentary Feature and Foreign Language Film categories are also eligible in the Best Picture category, provided they meet the qualifications for the category. Foreign Language films are eligible for awards in other categories provided they meet the requirements of Awards Rules Two and Three. INVESTIGATING the STYLE, FORM and GENRE of PERIOD DRAMA in 2010S BRITISH TELEVISION
A thesis submitted to the Victoria University of Wellington in fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy December 2020 HERITAGE AND POST-HERITAGE: INVESTIGATING THE STYLE, FORM AND GENRE OF PERIOD DRAMA IN 2010s BRITISH TELEVISION WILL STANFORD This image is unavailable. Please consult reference on page ii for further information. ABBISS ii ABSTRACT This project analyses six period drama productions in British television of the 2010s, expanding Claire Monk’s term of ‘post-heritage’ into a critical framework. Its case studies establish a cycle of progressive representations of the past in recent television drama, which operate against the assumptions of ‘heritage’ nostalgia forwarded by earlier scholars. The post-heritage framework consists of five guiding elements: interrogation, subversion, subjectivity, self-consciousness and ambiguity. These inform the analysis of the project’s case studies, while also allowing the existence of post-heritage elements to be recognised in earlier period drama productions. The thesis is split into three distinct parts, which allow the heritage and post-heritage elements of the case studies to be associated with the characteristics and theoretical concepts of television drama. The first chapter of each part evaluates the institutional context of its case study, identifying its impact upon production through textual examples from the programme. The second chapter of each part focuses on close analysis, demonstrating the extent to which post- heritage elements can assist innovation in television drama. Part I focuses on televisual style, identifying the naturalist, realist and modernist aesthetics of television drama. Scholarly sources are used to connect these with periods of British television history. -
Film Music at Tribeca Film Festival 2018 Checking in with the Old (George Fenton, Mychael Nyman) and the New (Amelia Warner, Anne Nikitin) at This Year’S Event
5/26/18, 605 PM Film Music at TriBeCa Film Festival 2018 Checking in with the old (George Fenton, Mychael Nyman) and the new (Amelia Warner, Anne Nikitin) at this year’s event. By Kyle Renick Founded in response to the tragedy of 9/11/2001 by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff, New York’s TriBeCa Film Festival offered its 17th edition from April 18 to 29, 2018. In the program book introduction, Rosenthal refers to the contemporary cacophony: “Our culture is threatened by ignorant yet powerful voices chanting ‘fake news,’ while being deaf to the struggles of our most vulnerable.” A celebration of storytelling in a variety of forms, including film, TV, VR, digital, music and gaming, TFF press notes specifically mention music as “a co- star of any film, and of the Festival this year.” Offering unprecedented opportunities for emerging and independent filmmakers, TFF has become NYC’s most absorbing and relevant film festival, lacking the jaw-dropping surprise of the New York Asian Film Festival, but avoiding the exhausting superciliousness of the New York Film Festival. It is impossible to see all the offerings; of the 99 feature films, I managed 28 documentaries and 41 narratives, plus one TriBeCa TV event, and the two extremely popular anniversary screenings of Scarface and Schindler’s List. It is also out of the question to cover all the worthy scores introduced at TFF, and many additional pages could be written about the work being done by young composers. In addition to TFF being noteworthy that almost half the selections were directed by women, it is also laudable for increasing achievements by women http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/fsmonline/story.cfm?maID=6442&issueID=161&printer=1 Page 1 of 16 5/26/18, 605 PM film composers. -

We take our seats with a diverse group of people, switch off our phones, the light dims, and for a moment we wait in silent darkness for what is to come. If we do so without prejudice, without distraction and with an open heart, we can be entertained or confused, rattled or soothed, shaken or stirred by what is presented to us by the filmmakers. We experience their unique points of view, visions of the human universe that can move us emotionally and intellectually in many different ways. This open state of mind is embodied by Planet IFFR. -

In contrast to many other studies in this field, such productions are understood as both adaptations and „costume dramas‟, whilst the often neglected televisual context is highlighted alongside the paratexts which shape and surround adaptations. At the same time, the enduring (yet often dismissed) notion of „fidelity‟ is recognised and developed, as expectations of faithfulness extend beyond the literary text to privilege the legacies of prior adaptations. -
