NPR’s Nina Totenberg Is Constitution Day Speaker at Stockton College on Sept. 17

Galloway Township, NJ -Nina Totenberg, award-winning legal affairs correspondent for National Public Radio, will be the keynote speaker for this year’s celebration of Constitution Day on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. Totenberg will speak in the Campus Center Event Room at 6 p.m. Her reports air regularly on NPR's critically acclaimed newsmagazines, , , and . Her coverage of legal affairs and the Supreme Court has won her widespread recognition. She is also a regular panelist on Inside Washington, a weekly syndicated public affairs television program produced in the nation's capital. Before joining NPR in 1975, Totenberg served as Washington editor of New Times Magazine, and before that she was the legal affairs correspondent for the National Observer. She’s been honored eight times by the , won every major journalism award in broadcasting, and is the only radio journalist to have won the National Press Foundation award for Broadcaster of the Year. NPR received the prestigious Peabody Award for its 1991 gavel-to- gavel coverage--anchored by Totenberg--of the inquiry into 's allegations against , and for Totenberg's reports and exclusive interview with Hill. On the non- broadcasting side of her career, she has written for newspapers and periodicals, from the Times Magazine to the . Ms. Totenberg’s presentation, “The Supreme Court and You,” should be of great interest to a wide range of students. She’ll share behind-the-scenes stories about the Court and offer her seasoned and astute perspective on recent decisions by the Roberts Court. Tickets are not required, but seating is limited. Totenberg’s speech will be simulcast in the Campus Center Theatre to provide additional seating.
