February 1, 2016 - "Desert and Wilderness”, 2001, Polish movie, Adventure, Family The screening will start at 18:00 Hrs.

Adapted from the 1911 novel In Desert and Wilderness by , Desert and Wilderness tells the story of two children, Stas Tarkowski and Nel Rawlison, kidnapped by the rebels during Mahdis rebellion in . The story takes place in the 19th century in the city of Port Said (). A 14-year-old Polish boy Staś Tarkowski and 8-year-old English girl Nel Rawlison arrive in Africa. Their fathers are engineers and supervise the maintenance of the Suez Canal. One day an anti-British Mahdi rebellion begins in Sudan. Staś and Nel are kidnapped by a group of Arabs and the children are forced to travel through the Sa- hara Desert to be presented to Mahdi. The journey is difficult and exhausting, especially for Nel, but Staś bravely protects her from every danger. After escaping from Arabs, Staś, Nel, two former slaves – Mea and Kali, Nel’s dog named Saba and a rescued elephant named King travel together through both jungle and desert. Exhausted by the heat, thirst, hunger and poor treatment they slowly lose hope, but at the same time they experience the most exciting adventure in their lives.

February 2, 2016 - "The Feather Fairy“, 1985, Slovak movie, Comedy, Fantasy, Romance The screening will start at 18:00 Hrs.

The Feather Fairy is a 1985 adaptation of the Brothers Grimm‘s Mother Hulda short story directed by Slovak director Juraj Jakubisko. A fairy tale about a grandma who cares for snow and a boy who isn‘t afraid of death. A fairy tale not only for children about Jacob, who through his courage manages to trick death. The film plays with man’s never-ending desire for happiness, love and victory over death. Mrs. Winter, The Feather Fairy, rules the world and also, being so open hearted, raises little Jacob, who almost dies in an avalanche. Life in the fairytale is perfect, the little boy is immortal, he doesn’t get older, and he has everything. Even though his life is perfect he watches human life through a looking glass. He sees a young girl; Alžbetka, growing into a young lady and he yearns to be a normal person and live with his love.

February 3, 2016 "The Exam“, 2015, Hungarian movie, Drama, Thriller The screening will start at 18:00 Hrs.

„THE EXAM“ follows Jung, a dedicated mid-level agent in Budapest in 1957. After the failure of the Hungarian uprising, secret police become fixated with surveillance, constantly monitoring the actions of the people. They also conduct secret tests on their own members to assure that they are true believers in the Communist Party. Though his mentor and superior, Pal Marko, vouches for his commitment, Jung‘s loyalty is still put to the test. They bug his entire house and telephone, monitoring every conversation he has. Suspicions arise when Jung‘s lover, Eva, visits him on Christmas Eve. Her involvement in the revolt of 1956 begins to raise flags. What are her intentions in da- ting Jung? Is she a spy sent to extract information? Marko, worried that Jung‘s integrity will be compromised, desperately tries to fix the situation. But, as the paranoia mounts, it becomes harder to tell who‘s on whose side. Thanks to an absolutely terrific script, THE EXAM is an extremely intelligent thriller that never fails to surprise.“

February 4, 2016 – "Three Wishes for Cinderella“, 1973, Czech-German movie, Fantasy, Family Event will be open by guest speakers and it will be followed by a reception. The event will start at 17:30 Hrs.

The film stars Libuše Šafránková as the lead character; a young woman who is put upon by her stepmother and stepsisters. The film- no netheless employs a slight twist when a handsome prince comes knocking. Cinderella does not simply fall into the prince‘s arms. In this version, he must actively pursue the young woman who is a skilled sharpshooter prone to wearing hunting outfits. Cinderella also has three wishes at her disposal, gained from three magic nuts.
