To: Projects Subject: South Mountain FEIS Preserve 2 Biology, Plants, Dear Sirs: and Wildlife As a member of PMPC, I wish to go on record in opposition to the building of a freeway through 3 Section 4(f) and 1 South Mtn Park. Over the years I have been a regular and frequent visitor to the Park which is only Section 6(f), 15-20 minutes from my home. The PMPC statement about the deficiencies of the FEIS should be Traditional more than enough to convince even the most avid highway advocate that this roadway should NOT Cultural 2 be built. South Mountain Park is a gem in an otherwise degraded urban environment; the park provides strong wildlife, archeological and recreational values. The proposed freeway would harm Properties all these values. I speak as a biologist, now retired, who has written about the Sonoran Desert 3 (Sonoran Desert Spring and Sonoran Desert Summer) and who believes that the Sonoran Desert deserves our respect and protection, not its continued destruction.
