This past spring, our parish established the Transfiguration Benevolence Fund to help individuals or families in times of crisis or hardship by temporarily assisting with basic needs. The Fund can help you, a family member, a friend, or a neighbor with basic needs such as: food, clothing, housing, utilities, medical expenses or other expenses that are the result of a crisis or emergency. It is not intended as an ongoing solution or for the purpose of paying off debts, school tuition or fees, penalties or legal fees related to illegal actions. Parishioners must “sponsor” a friend, family member or neighbor in need by completing an application. If you would like an application or have questions on the Transfiguration Benevolence Fund, please contact Martha Praska in the church office at 651-738-2646. Due to the generosity of parishioners, we were able to award two grants this past week. We were able to assist a recently-widowed mother with rent as she struggles to support her children and continue to work full-time. We were also able to assist a single mom of two boys who was laid off from her and recently experienced some health challenges. Please keep all of those struggling with daily challenges, and the donors to the Transfiguration Benevolence Fund, in your prayers.

On Saturday, November 7, beginning at 9:00 a.m., our monthly Parish Formation talk will be on prayer: how Jesus taught us to pray, and how we can create designated prayer areas in our own homes. This event, which is open to everyone, and will conclude with a time of Adoration and confession. Thanks to a matching donation from the Schultze Foundation, we were able to raise $20,000 for supplies, safety equipment, and music instruments. These materials have allowed the school to increase the number of band members while keeping a safe environment for students. Moreover, these materials will be a tremendous help to keeping the school competitive in fine arts learning in the years to come. Thank you to all the generous local businesses and parish supporters who helped in this endeavor. Be on the lookout in the coming months of how these materials are being used. If you would like to support the fine arts program, please contact Mr. Mike McGuire at [email protected].
