The Lion King Jr has truly been one of the most delightful experiences I’ve ever had as a director. A project that involves 97 middle school students, 4 Ed………………………………………………..………..….…...Mason Bator high school students, 8 community volunteers, 1 professional theatre owner, and the added support of over 30 Pumbaa………..……………………………….…………..….…..Ahmed Khan staff members is quite an example of collaboration. Throughout this experience, students of all grade levels learned to value and respect one another as integral parts of our team. Students learned foreign languages, measurement and budgeting (Math), line interpretation and phrasing (Language Arts), cul- Adult Nala………………………………………….……..………....Sarah Attia tural differences (Social Studies), musical notation and terminology, movement sequencing and dance (PE), Lioness Ensemble animal relationships and habitats (Science), visual arts and elements of design, stage terminology , time man- agement, positive social interactions, problem solving, and the collaboration (College and Career Readiness). Faith Rogers, Rebecca Meredith, Trystan Sasu, Briana Gathers Throughout this journey I’ve watched students develop their confidence and performance skills. Their enthusi- Melody Goto, Kim Cooper, Kaitlyn Thompson, Sarah Attia asm for this production has been incredible. I’m very proud of them all! Hyena Ensemble My work load on this production was lightened with assistance I received from some community and parent Maria Nikolaitchik, Cody Brandenburg, Tim Dirden, Ian Fogle volunteers. Mr.Kiska, Mr. Bruley and retired CMS Math teacher Mr. Julia, worked directly with students on set design, construction and painting. Zach Bryant (THS Junior, CMS Alumni) and Ms. Reyes answered a facebook Anura Reid, Zenon Drain, Mason Bator request for choreography assistance, and watching them work with student groups energized and inspired us! I Grassland Dance Ensemble also received assistance with costuming for this show from Mr. Kiska, Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. Nikolaitchik, Ms. Reyes and Mrs. Livingston. Mrs. Leatherman was instrumental in helping me find reasonably priced props and Ryan Mills, Emma Livingston, Rayne Bastian, Katelyn Rowe, Kelsey Daniels, for cleaning up messes on stage after our set development. I truly appreciate the help from all our volunteers.
