    Athletics Australia National Athlete Support Structure Paralympic Preparation Program The National Athlete Support Structure is an Athletics Australia high performance system that provides support to individual athletes who are contributing to the Australian Institute of Sport’s (AIS) Winning Edge. That this House notes that: (a) from 29 August to 9 September 2012, the fourteenth Summer Paralympic Games were held in London, and (b) Australia was one of 164 nations competing where Australian athletes won a total of 85 medals of which 32 were Gold, 23 were Silver and 30 were Bronze. 2. That this House commends the dedication and perseverance of all Australian athletes that competed in these Games. 3. SEARCH > News NEWS NSW Paralympian’s bound for Rio Author: Athletics NSW Administrator / Monday, 1 August 2016 / Categories: News The Australian Paralympic Committee and Athletics Australia have today announced 44 athletes to compete at the Rio Paralympic Games in September. NSW will be represented by 14 athletes with half on debut. The athletics at the Games run from September 8 to 17. Wheelchair veterans of the Australian team, Angie Ballard and Kurt Fearnley will make their fifth journey to a Games, while for Newcastle-based Christie Dawes it is a women’s record sixth appearance. Debutants are: Nicole Harris, Guy Henly, James Turner, Taylor Doyle and three teenagers Rae Anderson, Sarah Walsh and Erin Cleaver. The team includes London medallists, Rosemary Little, Kurt Fearnley, Scott Reardon, Angie Ballard and Christie Dawes. The team includes former football James Turner. His Pararoo team missed London and when they also missed Rio, he switched sports, via a talent identification program. Coach Brett Robinson has done a great job guiding him in a new sport and he goes to Rio as an outside medal chance in the T36 (cerebral palsy) 800m.     MESSAGE FROM THE NEW SOUTH WALES GOVERNMENT The NSW Government welcomes you to the 2015 Sydney International Rowing Regatta, Australia’s premier rowing event. This is the third time the event has been held at the Sydney Interna- tional Regatta Centre in Penrith, where it is set to remain for the next three years. This week will see Australia’s best rowers going head-to-head here in Western Sydney in prestigious races such as the King’s and Queen’s Cups Interstate Regatta, as well as the Australian National and Schools Open Championships. The event attracts visitors and competitors from around the country, making an important contribution to the local visitor economy. Visi- tors are encouraged to experience everything Western Sydney has to offer, from restaurants and shops to spectacular scenery in the near- by Blue Mountains. The NSW Government MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT OF ROWING AUSTRALIA On behalf of the Board and Council of Rowing Australia, it is with the greatest pleasure that I welcome athletes, coaches, sponsors, officials, guests and supporters to the 2015 Sydney International Rowing Regatta. It is a great honour for Rowing Australia to again host this magnificent event and for the Australian rowing community to demonstrate the strength of the sport in our country. We are very happy to welcome back a variety of Asian Pacific nations to compete again with the cream of Australian rowing, and as the King’s Cup runs towards it’s centenary cele- brations in 2019 we again are very excited to the fantastic racing that the King’s and Queen’s Cups Interstate Regatta always brings.
