Coleoptera, Cerambycidae FOLIA HISTORICO NATURALIA MUSEI MATRAENSIS 1995 20: 185-197 Magyarországi cincér tápnövények (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae) KOVÁCS TIBOR - HEGYESSY GÁBOR ABSTRACT: [Foodplants of Hungarian longhorn beetles (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae).] The authors summa rize foodplant data published in earlier literature (135 species of longhorn beetles from 97 species of foodp lants) together with their own unpublished data (116 species of longhorn beetles from 69 species of foodplants). These combined sources cover 150 species of longhorn beetles from 116 species of foodplants. Sand pit for Biodiversity at Cep II quarry Researcher: Klára Řehounková Research group: Petr Bogusch, David Boukal, Milan Boukal, Lukáš Čížek, František Grycz, Petr Hesoun, Kamila Lencová, Anna Lepšová, Jan Máca, Pavel Marhoul, Klára Řehounková, Jiří Řehounek, Lenka Schmidtmayerová, Robert Tropek Březen – září 2012 Abstract We compared the effect of restoration status (technical reclamation, spontaneous succession, disturbed succession) on the communities of vascular plants and assemblages of arthropods in CEP II sand pit (T řebo ňsko region, SW part of the Czech Republic) to evaluate their biodiversity and conservation potential. We also studied the experimental restoration of psammophytic grasslands to compare the impact of two near-natural restoration methods (spontaneous and assisted succession) to establishment of target species. The sand pit comprises stages of 2 to 30 years since site abandonment with moisture gradient from wet to dry habitats. In all studied groups, i.e. vascular pants and arthropods, open spontaneously revegetated sites continuously disturbed by intensive recreation activities hosted the largest proportion of target and endangered species which occurred less in the more closed spontaneously revegetated sites and which were nearly absent in technically reclaimed sites. Out results provide clear evidence that the mosaics of spontaneously established forests habitats and open sand habitats are the most valuable stands from the conservation point of view. It has been documented that no expensive technical reclamations are needed to restore post-mining sites which can serve as secondary habitats for many endangered and declining species. The experimental restoration of rare and endangered plant communities seems to be efficient and promising method for a future large-scale restoration projects in abandoned sand pits.

STOJANOVIĆ2 1Institute for Nature Conservation of Serbia, Radnička 20a, 21000 Novi Sad, Serbia 2Fruška Gora National Park, Zmajev trg 1, 21208 Sremska Kamenica, Serbia ABSTRACT: Determinated of new longhorn beetle material (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) collected on Mt. Fruška Gora during the period of 2002 - 2005 has shown the presence of 29 species and three sub- species. Of that number, one species is new to the Serbian fauna, seven species or subspecies are regis- tered for the first time for Mt. Fruška Gora, three species are Balkan endemics, and 10 species or sub- species are rare in Serbia. The presence of Icosium tomentosum atticum Ganglbauer, 1881 in Serbia is confirmed by this entomological investigation. KEYWORDS: Cerambycidae, endemic and rare species, Balkan Mt. Fruška Gora INTRODUCTION Mount Fruška Gora is in many respects (geomorphological, faunistic, floristic, etc.) a special mountain massif. It is cut off from the rest of the Dinarid system and is surrounded by lowland. Since the 1950’s a few researchers investigated the mountain’s entomofauna (ADAMOVIĆ, 1950, 1965; MIKŠIĆ, 1963; ILIĆ, 2005; PIL and STOJANOVIĆ, 2005a, b). Until now 126 cerambycid species were registered on this massif. That number includes some species which were there noted for the first time for Serbia, as well as rare and endemic species. MATERIAL AND METHODS Material was collected on field trips on Mt. Fruška Gora during the period of 2002 - 2005.

V Českých Budějovicích, 30. dubna 2007 3 Abstract During the last century the forests of Central Europe changed from open woodlands to even-aged stands with closed-canopy. This change resulted in severe decline of forest biodiversity. This study examines how, and why such change affected xylophagous insects. I have studied microhabitat preferences, i.e.

  • Bugs & Beasties of the Western Rhodopes
Bugs and Beasties of the Western Rhodopes (a photoguide to some lesser-known species) by Chris Gibson and Judith Poyser [email protected] Yagodina At Honeyguide, we aim to help you experience the full range of wildlife in the places we visit. Generally we start with birds, flowers and butterflies, but we don’t ignore 'other invertebrates'. In the western Rhodopes they are just so abundant and diverse that they are one of the abiding features of the area. While simply experiencing this diversity is sufficient for some, as naturalists many of us want to know more, and in particular to be able to give names to what we see. Therein lies the problem: especially in eastern Europe, there are few books covering the invertebrates in any comprehensive way. Hence this photoguide – while in no way can this be considered an ‘eastern Chinery’, it at least provides a taster of the rich invertebrate fauna you may encounter, based on a couple of Honeyguide holidays we have led in the western Rhodopes during June. We stayed most of the time in a tight area around Yagodina, and almost anything we saw could reasonably be expected to be seen almost anywhere around there in the right habitat. Most of the photos were taken in 2014, with a few additional ones from 2012. While these creatures have found their way into the lists of the holiday reports, relatively few have been accompanied by photos. We have attempted to name the species depicted, using the available books and the vast resources of the internet, but in many cases it has not been possible to be definitive and the identifications should be treated as a ‘best fit’.

This paper discusses the results of faunal and zoogeographical surveys on the longhorn beetles of the Monte Rufeno Nature Reserve and Natural Monument «Bosco del Sasseto» (central Italy, Lazio, Viterbo province). In this area 75 species of longhorn beetles have been recorded, a figure that accounts for 27% of the Italian fauna and for 46% of that of the Lazio region. Among them, Rhagium (s.str.) inquisitor inquisitor, Anastrangalia dubia dubia, Monochamus galloprovincialis and Exocentrus lusitanus are new findings for Lazio. Several species, which are rare or strongly localized in Italy or only in the Apennine, have been recorded in the study area, such as Agapanthia (s.str.) maculicornis davidi, Asemum tenuicorne, E. lusitanus, Isotomus barbarae, Necydalis ulmi, Pseudosphegesthes cinerea, Saperda octopunctata and Stenhomalus (Obriopsis) bicolor. All available records, chorotype, and distribution in Italy are provided for each species, along with a brief discussion, when relevant. New Italian regional records are provided for: Rhagium (Megarhagium) sycophanta (Toscana and Campania), Cortodera humeralis humeralis, Rhamnusium bicolor (s.l.) (Umbria), Xylotrechus antilope antilope, Agapanthia (s.
