Version: 0.001 (way incomplete dood.)

Who wants to be a ? You've just landed yourself in the Netherworld (well, A netherworld), home to demons, angels, the occasional lost humans (and even robots!), and the souls of dead evil people, who have been turned into demonic peg- legged penguins that explode when you throw them around, where they must work awful jobs for low wages to buy their way into forgiveness for their sins.

First, a note about Characters, Quality, Reincarnation, and Death in :

All characters begin at level one, with low attributes. Wandering around the Netherworld killing monsters and demons, and other things lets you gain experience, mana, levels, and increased abilities.

Your Quality affects just how low your starting abilities are – Crappy characters have abysmal capabilities, and gain power slowly. Genius characters start out much stronger/faster/smarter, and gain power much faster. A Genius at level 1 might have twice the stats of a Crappy character, and as they get higher level, the divide becomes even bigger.

Once you've gained a certain amount of mana, you can trade that experience in to forcibly reincarnate, sending yourself back to level zero, and (possibly, if you've got enough mana gathered up) improve your Quality a level or three, so that you gain power faster on your next “life”. Reincarnating from a high level also lets you keep some of your traded-in power in the form of proportionate boosts in your stats, and keeping any non-class restricted skills from your last life. (IE: if you change from a Zombie to a Mage, you won't be able to use the Zombie's Puke attack, but if you go from Mage to Zombie, you can keep your Magic spells.) Reincarnating drops your mana, experience, and level all back down to nothing.

Death works a bit differently in Disgaea, since you're already in the Netherworld, where souls go when they die. As long as at least one (non-traitor!) member of your group is alive to get you to a healing station, and can pay for your recovery, you can be brought back. Actually dying (and hence failing the chain) requires that your whole group get “killed” - be careful, it can still happen! (There is no health insurance in the Netherworld. All patients must pay cash in advance for treatment.)

This also means that if you decided to be a Prinny, exploding doesn't count as “dying”, just as “inconvenienced” - as long as the rest of your team doesn't die, you'll recover back at the nearest healing station, and get charged the usual recovery fees. (If everybody dies though, it's game over.) Age & Gender:

Age in the Netherworld is an odd thing, since Demons and Angels are basically immortal. You can pick any human age you want to start at, between 12 and 80. Now if you're a Demon or an Angel, multiply that by about a thousand, and get used to looking the same age for the whole time you're here. If you're a human, you'll only age while you're in a human world, which isn't likely to be often.

Your gender stays the same as it was in your last jump, unless you pay 50cp to change it.

Origin:

(free) Drop-in - free, no memories to mess you up, but no idea what you're doing. Also, no responsibilities holding you down, but there's a good chance the main characters will just try to ignore you and/or mug you for lunch money. Hope you don't mind asking for directions!

(50cp) Plot-hook Character - The main character from whichever Location you've landed in will need to deal with you to accomplish their goals, and they WILL be coming after you. Will you help them, or hinder them? Or both? You get memories of a life here, and an understanding of how things work right off the bat.

(100cp) Main Character! - Asagi is officially mad at you. This was supposed to finally be her game! You've got your own story going on, and must save the Netherworld, and claim your title as an Overlord! (Or kill the overlord, whatever floats your balloon.) As with the Plot-hook character, you get memories of a life here, and understand how things are SUPPOSED to go. Now you just have to force them to do things your way.

Race: (*All characters start out as "crappy" quality, and need to reincarnate or buy a perk to get better.)

Generic Humanoid Demon - pick a profession (add list of all types here), pick a weapon, and try to rise above the common rabble. If you don't like what you are, you can always Reincarnate to some other Generic type later, humanoid or monster.

Generic Monster Demon - pick a type (list here), and try to be useful. Monster types can't use normal weapons, even if they've got proper hands, it's just the way things go, but they do get some neat attacks instead! If you don't like what you are, you can always Reincarnate to some other Generic type later. Yes, are in this group.

Unique Monster Character - you're a special kind of monster, and we don't just mean your personality. The attacks you can learn are generally more powerful and varied than the Generic monsters, you still can't use normal weapons. Unique monsters can include “special” versions of normal monsters (with extra powers of course), completely unique monsters, and even robots. Since you're special, if you reincarnate, you'll end up as the same creature every time. Unless you started that way, or pass a bill in the Senate, you'll never be a Prinny.

Unique Humanoid Character - Your own unique character design and attacks to go with your unique look. You might be a Demon, or an Angel, or even a Human who somehow got lost and wound up in the Netherworld. If you reincarnate, you'll end up as the same you every time. Unless you pass a bill in the Senate, you'll never be a Prinny. Locations: Roll 1d8, or pick for 100cp

1 Laharl's Castle - The location of the main story line (Disgaea 1 & D2). Laharl will just assume you're one of his Vassals – don't worry, he does that with everyone who isn't attacking him.

2 Holt Village - Hi-jinks with Adell, the last human in an earth type world that is being turned into a netherworld, where all of the people are turning into demons. ()

3 Makai Kingdom - Adventures with the Bad-ass Freakin' Overlord Zetta, who is currently a book. He's trying to fix that. (Spin-off game Makai Kingdom)

4 Evil Academy - School for demons, are you an Honor Student who skips class all the time, or a Delinquent who focuses on getting good grades and doing public service? ()

5 Hades – Join the revolution with Prinny Instructor Valvatorez! What is the Netherworld's Corrupternment plotting? ()

6 Alliance of Vengence - Take revenge on the Void Dark, in the netherworld that hasn't been revealed yet! (Disgaea 5's setting – going to be a while before we see it.)

7 Heaven - How did you get in here? They're usually much more careful guarding the gates. You'll probably get kicked out if you're caught, unless your whole group are angels, in which case you'll get “sent on a mission”. (read that as kicked out with the option to come back for another assignment when you're done)

8 You Decide!

Perks: (Discounts marked where they apply) (50cp) Increase starting Character Quality to "Average" (from Crappy) (100cp) Increase starting Character Quality to "Good" (from Crappy) (150cp) Increase starting Character Quality to "Genius" (from Crappy)

... need ideas for lower level perks & Freebies ...

(600cp, Discount: Drop-in) Political Sweetheart – For some reason, politicians listen to you, and are much more likely to agree, even when it's not in their own best interests. Passing bills in the senate will be a easy for you, and will require less bribery and physical beatings.

(600cp, Discount: Plot-hook Character) Prinny Commander – Prinnies tend to just do what you order them to, regardless of what their current assignment may be. If you tell them someone else will pay them for it, they'll even believe you the second time! The only exception to this is if you're fighting against them. They'll apologize, but sometimes you've got to fight, even when you don't want to dood! Post-jump, this will translate into being able to order other people's mooks around without the mooks thinking anything's wrong with that. As long as there's nobody around who says otherwise, they'll just assume you've got permission from the boss.

(600cp, Discount: Main Character) Item World Access – you can open the way to enter the Item World of any random item in your possession, and improve it's quality by committing acts of genocide against the inhabitants! Make swords sharper! Make Armor Stronger! Make that hyperdrive engine go faster! If you don't have this, you'll have to convince someone else to open the gateway for you if you want to level up any items you own. (special) Import Companions! You can import any companions you may want to bring with you at a cost of 100cp for the first, 50cp for additional companions, up to the fifth, after which a flat rate of 300cp will cover all companions you wish to bring. Note that you can only bring up to nine companions out at a time, but you'll be able to swap them back and forth freely as long as you're not in a fight, or an item world at the time. Any companion imported can have any of the four race options assigned to them, but remember that Unique types will not be able to reincarnate into anything different from the form they start out as, without getting the senate to approve them spending a life as a Prinny.

Items:

Experience Potions Mana Potions Rare/legendary weapons & armor?

Drawbacks:

(suggestions? Cost change recomendations?)

(100cp) Asagi Hates You – Asagi is now convinced you stole her staring role, and she's going to be hounding you through your whole ten years here. You won't be able to recruit her no matter what, and she'll do anything she can to wreck your plans and make you have a lousy day. Worse, since this is the Netherworld, you can't even kill her permanently, she's somehow pre-paid all of her resurrections at the healing station. (Why won't they let you do that? Cheater.) On the plus side, she's not very strong – there's a reason why she never gets to be the main character.

(200cp) Heavenly Assassin – Heaven has decided that whatever you're up to, it's got to be stopped. They're going to send agents to kill you off, and if you manage to turn any of their agents to your side, they'll just send new ones. Can't be taken if you're a “unique humanoid” of angelic disposition.

(300cp) You're Not Actually Paranoid – Everyone really is out to get you. You won't be able to make any friends during your stay here. The forces of Heaven, and the Netherworld will set aside their differences to ally against you! The only people you'll be able to trust are your own companions and team members. Anyone who starts out as an enemy will stay that way. Any bill you want to pass in the senate will require beating the whole senate in a fight.

Closing Notes:

You, and any companions you've imported (or are leaving with) will gain whatever their final form in this world was as a new alternate form. If you started as a Zombie, but later reincarnated to a Prinny, and stayed that way until the jump ends, you'll gain a Prinny alternate form, but not a Zombie one.

If you've imported less than nine companions, you can take some of your newer teammates from this world with you as companions, as long as they're willing to come with you. (Note that most named characters will not be willing to come with you for their own individual reasons.) However many of nine are left after deducting your imported companions, is how many new friends from here you can bring with you as companions.

For those who aren't familiar with Disgaea, passing bills in the senate allows you to do things like gain access to new areas to explore or unique encounters, change the difficulty of the game (easier or harder), change the prices of items (again, up or down), and even deliberately reincarnate a unique character as a Prinny for a single “life” (until they're next reincarnated, at which point they turn back into their normal form). Additionally, reincarnating any character into a Genius Quality version requires senate approval.

Unique characters who spend a life as a Prinny will come out as a unique Prinny that in some way resembles their normal self, for example here's Laharl as a Prinny:

Good luck dood!
