The anticipated flyover time is between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 21st. The flight plan is subject to change depending on weather conditions, which may result in an earlier flight time over Downey, or a last minute cancellation. There are many points of interest on the potential flight path, including the Columbia Memorial Space Center on the former NASA/Downey site, the California Science Center, Disneyland, Los Angeles City Hall, Santa Monica Pier and others. The Endeavor is one of five Space Shuttle Orbiters designed and engineered using the Space Shuttle Mock-Up now on display at the Columbia Memorial Space Center in Downey. Endeavour’s final trip home atop NASA’s 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft began at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida and will end at Los Angeles International Airport. Endeavour first arrived at the Kennedy Space Center on May 7, 1991 and launched its first mission on May 7, 1992. After a total of 25 successful missions in space, the Los Angeles Area welcomes this Historic National Treasure home. The public is invited to view this historic flyover at the City’s Columbia Memorial Space Center, located at 12400 Columbia Way.
