The meat industry's corrugated mold box is specifically used to form extruded meat and poultry from a hopper into a plastic liner that nests in a die cut carton. This box is used in the manufacturing process as a vehicle to form product molds in the blast freezer before becoming portion controlled, sliced meat and chicken.

The standard use of plastic liners in a mold box creates many challenges for meat packing operations. During the flash freezing process, parts of the plastics liner get stuck in the molded meat.
