In order to get ahead of the digital competence framework, (due to be statutory in all schools for 2018, see learningwales for more information) teachers are planning more opportunities for pupils to develop and learn new ICT skills on a daily basis. Now pupils can save and retrieve all of their work quickly and easily. As we come to the end of September it seems fitting to wish a Happy Birthday to Ysgol Gellifor who first opened its doors this month in the year 1868. Yr wythnos hon mae pob un o’n disgyblion wedi cael USB personol i defnyddio yn yr ysgol! Er mwyn cael o flaen y fframwaith cymhwysedd digidol (o ganlyniad i fod yn statudol ym mhob ysgol ar gyfer 2018, gweler ‘learningwales’ am fwy o wybodaeth) mae’r athrawon yn cynllunio mwy o gyfleoedd i ddisgyblion ddatblygu a dysgu sgiliau TGCh newydd yn ddyddiol. Nawr gall disgyblion gadw ac adfer eu holl gwaith yn gyflym ac yn Seren Yr Wythnos / Super Heroes hawdd. Llongyfarchiadau Owen, Matteo, Bella, Anwen a Harry. Positive Points Bronze Awards go to Ethan, Lewis, Lilly, Megan, Ben, Yours sincerely / Yn gywir, Steffan, Sam T, Owen, Spencer, Bella and Katy. Mr Richard Monteiro Silver Awards go to Nadia, Daniel, Emma, Amelia, Rafa, Evie, Daisy, Arran, Jessica, Oliver, Aled, Joe, Vale of Clwyd Poppy and Matteo. Well done! A huge congratulations to all who took part in the VOC cross country on Thursday. The children had a mammoth task of Attendance for last week climbing a humongous hill during their race. Ysgol Gellifor are very proud of all the pupils who took part. Well done to Arran, Rafa, Matteo, Connie, Amelia, Isabella, Anna, Megan, Steffan Attendance (1 day = 20% ½ day = and Edward for qualifying for the next round. Magical gardens A HUGE thank you for all the help that the parents have given the children with this week’s homework. Our classroom was full of magical gardens and the children loved showing and describing them to their classmates. Da iawn Pawb!!! Dosbarth 2 This week, Dosbarth 2 have been investigating food nutrition. As part of their Healthy Living topic, Dosbarth 2 have been looking at food groups and the nutritional value of the foods we eat. We have discussed a healthy, balanced diet and how we can incorporate those important 5-a-day fruit and vegetables! From this, they went on to use their Maths skills to find out which of their favourite foods contained the highest nutrients. Criw Cymraeg Hillary Clinton has said “I have always had a special place in my heart for Wales”. Why? Friends of the School/PTA The date of the next meeting is Friday 7th October at 3:15pm where we will be planning future events. This will ensure that the text retrieved is easier to read and age appropriate. Mini bus contributions for swimming Just a reminder that we are asking for £1 per week or £12 per term for swimming. Please send your payment in to the office if you have not already done so. 150 Years Birthday Celebration (well nearly!) Heads up! Get your Victorian costumes ready as we will be celebrating our 148th birthday with a day in the life of a Victorian child in November (teachers and children dressed up and in character!) Details to follow after half term. Jamboree Please ensure the £4 cost is paid by Thursday 6th of September. Cinio/Dinners A reminder that dinner costs £1.90 as is payable in advance.
