Screaming Females Announce Australian Tour; Plus Special Australian Tour Edition Release of ‘Rose Mountain’ For Immediate Release: May 31, 2016 SCREAMING FEMALES ANNOUNCE AUSTRALIAN TOUR; PLUS SPECIAL AUSTRALIAN TOUR EDITION RELEASE OF ‘ROSE MOUNTAIN’ Image credit: Lance Bangs LISTEN TO/SHARE “RIPE” – https://youtu.be/6ObpxB1_TV8 Twenty-fifteen marked a lot of milestones for one of America’s most critically acclaimed underground punk bands, Screaming Females. They released their sixth full-length album, Rose Mountain via Don Giovanni RecorDs, worked for the first time with an outside producer, hit quadruple digits on the live show front and marked their ten-year anniversary as a Band. Today, Screaming Females are exciteD to announce tHeir Debut Australian tour and to celebrate, they’ll release an exclusive Australian tour edition of Rose Mountain, with B-sides and demos, available on July 22nd digitally and only in Australia. Equal parts Dinosaur Jr and Sleater-Kinney, the trio of Marissa Paternoster (guitar/vocals), MicHael Abbate (bass) and Jarrett DougHerty (drums), ten years on, are still as hard working and viciously independent as they were when they began in 2005. Paternoster’s vocals have Been likened to those of Corin Tucker in the way they wither and howl with a vibrato that blows minds time and again, while her shredding guitar abilities have seen her named in SPIN Magazine’s “Top 100 Guitarists Of All Time.” Having notched up over one thousand shows in the northern hemisphere, exuding a frenetic energy with an almost frightening level of intensity which has seen them join stages alongside, Dinosaur Jr, GarBage, The Dead Weather and the list goes on, this year sees them make their first ever trip below the equator. Their Blistering-yet-mannered rock onslaught has been critically acclaimed for years, both in a live setting as well as on record. Their 5th full length, Ugly, recorded by lauded engineer, Steve Albini, captures the ferociousness of their live performance while delivering gorgeous sonic clarity. On their latest release though, Rose Mountain the trio worked with producer and engineer, Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Sword, Minus The Bear, Soundgarden), to delve deeper than they ever have Before into the intricacies of guitar tones and drum sounds. Rose Mountain sees Screaming Females produce a record that is their most concise, crisp and melodic yet. So if you, like us, haven’t seen Screaming Females live, the trio played two shows in Chicago at The Hideout Back in 2013, which were recorded By Steve Albini and released as a live album. We’ve been told Live At The Hideout is the best representation we’re going to get of the band’s crazy onstage antics, mind Bendingly crafty, shredding solos and the canyon-spanning vocals of Paternoster. Check it out and see why we’re so damn excited for this tour to come around this August. Hot tip: bring earplugs, or you’ll be screwed. Robert Jones, Sr. uses folk music to tell stories, and CDs to keep them alive. “Folk music is about everyday living. It sings about work and poverty, about love and loneliness, about bravery and fear, and it tells stories. Some stories are fun, some are poignant and some strike to the heart of who we are and who we aspire to be. The long, long tide of emocore did not recede in the 2000s. Continuing the cross-pollination begun in the previous decade, New York's Coheed And Cambria, fronted by vocalist-guitarist Claudio Sanchez, carried out a historical fusion of the progressive-rock tradition and the emo-core tradition on their sci-fi tetralogy, notably In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth (2003). Pioneers of "progressive emocore" were also Breaking Pangaea in Philadelphia, who crafted the lengthy progressive emo psychodrama Turning on A Cannon To A Whisper (2001). The same city later witnessed the ascent of Circa Survive, whose fusion of hardcore, pop, metal and prog-rock peaked with Juturna (2005). Minus The Bear rejuvinated emo-core in Seattle by stretching Fugazi's original aesthetic to accommodate progressive jamming driven by guitarist Dave Knudson and keyboardist Matt Bayles, best on the EP This Is What I Know About Being Gigantic (2001) and partially on the album Highly Refined Pirates (2002). Oregon's 31 Knots were perhaps the most versatile and erudite in fusing progressive-rock and melodic/melodramatic emocore, starting with A Word Is Also A Picture Of A Word (2002).

email: [email protected] website: nightshift.oxfordmusic.net Free every month. NIGHTSHIFT Issue 138 January Oxford’s Music Magazine 2007 Boy! Girl! Revolution!!! Yeah! Baby Gravy Leading Oxford’s Class of 2007 - inside NIGHTSHIFT: PO Box 312, Kidlington, OX5 1ZU. Phone: 01865 372255 NEWNEWSS Nightshift: PO Box 312, Kidlington, OX5 1ZU Phone: 01865 372255 email: [email protected] Hello everyone, and a Happy New Year, January is traditionally a quiet period for live music before things gear up again for the spring touring season. Even so, a quick glance at this month’s gig guide shows there is still plenty going on. This is also a great time to catch some of the best new acts around, with record labels keen to show off their latest signnigs after the bloated pre-Christmas period where Greatest Hits collections fill the shelves. As ever we take this opportunity to have a look at some of the best new bands coming out of Oxfordshire. Our cover stars, Baby Gravy, have been one of the most refreshing discoveries of recent months, while there are, as ever, a host of great new acts on the way up. Hopefully, in the absence of many big name acts coming to town this month, you’ll try and see a few homegrown talents. Just so you can brag to your friends when they become famous. Happy gigging. David Kosten and Guy Gigsworth, who has previously worked with Björk and Madonna. In recent times Richard has found a new following THIS YEAR’S OXFORD PUNT will take in the States where his track ‘All At Sea’ was place on Wednesday 9th May.

  • Mastodon Blood Mountain Pdf Download Free Blood Mountain
mastodon blood mountain pdf download free Blood Mountain. The two-year long-wait is over, and those Mastodon fans encouraged but leery of the slicker production of Leviathan over Remission will be even more bemused, or downright bewildered, by Blood Mountain, the band's first foray into major-label territory since signing with Warner Brothers' Reprise imprint (after all, this was the label conceded to Frank Sinatra as his own when he threatened to leave it). Blood Mountain is everything fans both hoped for and feared. Mastodon has dug even deeper in its foray into prog metal, but without losing an ounce of their power, literacy, or willingness to indulge in hardcore punk, doom, and death metal. Like Leviathan, Blood Mountain is both melodic and downright raging in places. Matt Bayles is in the producer's chair once more and he's encouraged this Georgia quartet -- Bränn Dailor (drums), Brent Hinds (guitar and vocals), Bill Kelliher (guitar and vocals), and Troy Sanders (bass and vocals) -- to take it to the limit. And they have. Blood Mountain indulges and goes deep into the territory of prog metal beats and quests and spiritual revelations that have less to do with Tolkein-ism and more to do with Conan-ism. There are utterly beautiful melodic passages woven into the heaviness that are reminiscent of Thin Lizzy's dual guitar lyricism -- and the band has confessed to digging Phil Lynott and company. The vocals -- with guest spots from Neurosis' Scott Kelly, the Mars Volta's Cedric Bixler-Zavala, and Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme -- are mixed way upfront and the number of sheer stylistic changes is dizzying.
