A FEW WORDS OF Thanks

To the Baylor Family, Everyone in the Baylor Family is familiar with the phrase “GBR!” Those three simple letters unite us in every way and in every venue. Tonight, we invoke the spirit of “GBR!” as we gather for the 2019 Celebrations Auction, and we have never had more reasons to cheer at Baylor!

At this moment, we have an opportunity to enhance the Baylor experience and make a lasting impact for years to come. Consider the historic significance our biennial auction has had on our school. In the two decades since our inaugural event, we have raised more than $4 million for Baylor, and our students and faculty are truly worthy of such support! From world-class academic achievement, to earning numerous state and even national championships; from the beauty inspired by our fine arts program, and to making a positive difference through community service, Baylor students earn our sacrificial support and respect every day.

Beyond the money raised, Celebrations has become one of the “sold out” events on Chattanooga’s social calendar, and we are delighted to welcome our many guests tonight. We look forward to an evening of socializing, bidding for world-class auction items, and mostly celebrating the Baylor Spirit!

Finally, on behalf of the entire Baylor Family, I want to thank our many volunteers for giving so generously of their time and talents for this cause. Special kudos to Celebrations co-chairs Allen Carter ’91, Kelly Reisman Drayer ’89, and Janet Hartman, who have worked tirelessly toward making this year’s Celebrations a record-breaking success. Our volunteers and sponsors have done their part; now, we need to raise our glasses and paddles for Baylor. Have a great evening, and GO BIG RED!

Scott Wilson ’75, Headmaster

Dear Baylor Family, As we celebrate Baylor’s 125th year and our 10th biennial auction, we want to say thank you.

This year’s Celebrations’ team including parents, alumni, and friends have worked tirelessly to bring a wealth of world class auction items for bidding. We have searched far and wide for the best of the best. The dedication of our auction committee is unsurpassed. We are proud to present Celebrations 2019 on behalf of the Baylor community and for the benefit of our student body and our faculty.

The Baylor mission to “foster in its students both the ability and the desire to make a positive difference in the world” has more meaning today than ever before. With your support, funds raised tonight will help today’s students become tomorrow’s leaders.

Thank you for joining us as we make a positive difference…ONE BID AT A TIME!

Allen, Kelly, and Janet, Celebrations Co-Chairs Sponsors

The Celebrations committee would like to thank our generous sponsors for underwriting the expenses of the event. This support is the cornerstone of our fundraising efforts for Celebrations, assuring the financial success of this wonderful biennial event.

Celebrations SPECIAL PROJECT

Lift Your Paddle for an Outdoor Pool! Baylor prides itself in building community and tonight we are lifting our paddles in support of a new outdoor pool that will bring people outside and bring them together. The current outdoor pool is severely outdated and can serve only a frac- tion of students or campers at any given time. The competitive, indoor aquatic center pool is too deep for our youngest campers, and is reserved primarily for training purposes by Baylor’s nationally ranked swim team. A new outdoor pool will not only add to the recreational value of our summer programs and residential life community, but will become a gathering spot for all Baylor students. Located behind the Ireland Studio Arts building with a beautiful view of the River and surrounding mountains, this grand new com- munity space will be handicapped-accessible and will feature: • Spacious wading area • Competitive swim lanes • Water polo zone • Lap pool • High dive platform • Conveniently located changing rooms At tonight’s Celebrations event, we hope you will raise your paddle for the new outdoor pool and come together as one BID RED family in redefining the Baylor camper and community experience!
