The Hispanic Student Association in conjunction with Multicultural Activities will host award- winning journalist Maria Hinojosa. Dinner will be served. New Music Concert Featuring Works by Chris Burton Thursday, November 1, 7:30 p.m. in the Jones Concert Hall in the McCrary Music Building. The Baylor School of Music presents a concert of new music written by student composer Chris Burton. Nationally renowned Professor Brent Phillips, will perform with the Baylor Trombone Choir as well as a performance by the Baylor Percussion Group. This event is free of charge and open to the public. Homecoming Activities Bear Pantry: The Homecoming Food Drive Donations of non-perishable food items are being accepted in all residence halls all week as well as at Extravaganza and the Parade. Student organizations may also donate food in the competition at 5th and Speight. Take this chance to give something back to our Waco community. For additional information, visit www.baylor.edu/homecoming. Freshman Mass Meeting Wednesday, October 31, 9 p.m. at Waco Hall. Start off this year's Homecoming celebration by coming to Waco Hall and learning about the traditions of Baylor! Former Baylor track and field head coach Clyde Hart will speak about the Baylor spirit, and Neil Knighton will share the story of Baylor's Immortal Ten. At the conclusion of the event, the freshman class will be entrusted with the Eternal Flame, representing Baylor's spirit, to guard and protect until the Bonfire is lit from it on Friday night. Flame guarding will go until 2 a.m. each night and include a band, S’mores, and more fun for all members of the class of 2011! Build the Bonfire Thursday, November 1, 7 p.m. at Fountain Mall. This is a freshman tradition and one not to miss! This year looks to be the biggest bonfire in recent years, so all freshmen are encouraged to come out and enjoy free food, music, and fellowship as they build the Bonfire and continue to guard the Eternal Flame. Pigskin Revue Thursday, November 1, 7 p.m.; Friday, November 2, 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.; and Saturday, November 3, 7 p.m. at Waco Hall. A limited number of tickets is still available for the Thursday night performance. Visit the Ticket Office in the SUB for more information about this Broadway-style performance featuring the top eight acts from Sing 2007. Immortal Ten Memorial Dedication Friday, November 2, 2 p.m. at Traditions Square (between the SUB and Carroll Science Building). The Immortal Ten Memorial will be dedicated after 12 years of fundraising and planning. This is a special time for all of Baylor’s family and those with intimate knowledge of the Immortal Ten will tell their stories to all in attendance. A short reception will follow. Brooks Village Dedication Friday, November 2, 4:30 p.m. between Brooks Residential College and Brooks Flats. Join the Baylor family for the dedication of Baylor’s most recently constructed living community. Tours of the buildings will be available after the dedication ceremony where President Lilley and other guests will speak. Extravaganza Friday, November 2, 6 p.m. at Fountain Mall. Friday night, the mall will be transformed into a true "Extravaganza!" Starting at 6 p.m., a carnival atmosphere will take over, complete with inflatable games, hot air balloons, a Ferris wheel, a giant slide, and alumni reunion tents. The event will be free and is come-and-go. For additional information, visit www.baylor.edu/homecoming. Pep Rally and Bonfire Friday, November 2, 9 p.m. at Fountain Mall. Come support the Baylor Bear football team as they get pumped up for their game against the Texas Tech Red Raiders! Coach Guy Morriss will be there with the team and the Baylor University Golden Wave Band and cheerleaders will perform. Immediately following the Pep Rally, the Homecoming Bonfire will be lit. Homecoming Parade Saturday, November 3, 9 a.m. at 5th Street on campus. Come watch the nation's largest collegiate Homecoming Parade march through downtown Waco and the Baylor campus. Baylor Football vs. Texas Tech Saturday, November 3, 2 p.m. at Floyd Casey Stadium. Touchdown Alley will open at 11 a.m. and will feature live music, games, autographs, and the pre-game radio show! Students can catch the shuttle from the SUB that begins running two hours prior to game time. Freshmen – don’t miss running with the Baylor Line and the Baylor Line tailgate!
