Middle School Fall 2017 After–School Activities ____________________________________________ _______ Student’s Name (first and last) Please print Grade It is important that students make only one first choice unless you are selecting an enrichment activity. Activities start on Wednesday, August 16, unless otherwise noted. Athletic activities with unlimited participation: If your first choice of an activity is listed below, place an “X” on the line next to the activity. Football (6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys) _____ 7th & 8th grade start on Monday, July 31 8:00 p.m. at the Field House. Parent meeting (mandatory) in Film Room. Practice to follow. 6th grade starts on Monday, August 7 at 9:00 a.m. at the Field House. Parent meeting (mandatory) in Film Room. Practice to follow. Soccer (6th, 7th and 8th grade girls; a red team and a gray team) _____ Practice for team placement starts: Wednesday, August 9 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. Please bring a water bottle, cleats and shin guards. Meet at the Field House. Cross Country (6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys and girls) _____ Swimming and Diving (6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys and girls) _____ Fencing (6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys and girls) _____ If you do not want to participate in one of the above activities, please continue. Athletic activities with limited participation: Both softball and competitive tennis have limited participation. In the event that cuts become necessary, students who do not make the teams can move into the sports with unlimited participation or into enrichment activities that are not full. If your first choice in an activity is softball or competitive tennis, place an “X” on the line next to the activity. Softball (6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls) _____ Practice will begin on August 14 at 5:00 p.m. – Field House Competitive Tennis (6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys and girls) _____ If you do not want to participate in one of the above activities, please continue. Enrichment activities with limited participation: If you want to participate in an enrichment activity, please indicate your top three choices by placing the numbers “1”, “2” or “3” on the line by the activities. Concert Dance (6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys and girls) _____ *Walkabout: Outdoor Education (6th, 7th, 8th boys and girls-24 students) _____ *Community Service (6th, 7th and 8th grade boys and girls -24 students) _____ *Robotics (6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys and girls – 12 students) _____ PLEASE NOTE: Students who sign-up for Robotics or Community Service must participate in a competitive or recreational (physical) activity during the winter or spring term. Also, all of the starred activities have limited enrollment. You will be notified if you are placed in your second or third choice activity. Soccer: Curtis Blair. Practice will run until 4:45 p.m. Please pick up your child at the Field House. Swimming and Diving: Brian Gill and John Bonds. Practice will run until 4:30 p.m. Cross country: Suzanne Collins (girls) Jan Gautier (boys). Both practices will run until 4:45 p.m. Softball: Kelli Smith. Practice will run until 4:45 p.m. Football: Varsity – Bill McMahon. JV – Ryan Armstrong. Practice will run until 5:15 p.m. Tennis: Dustin Kane. Practice will run until 4:15 p.m. Fencing: Michael Vines. Practice will run until 4:45 p.m. Concert Dance: Cathy Pettway. Practice will run until 4:15 p.m. Community Service: Ashley Shuford. Service will run until 4:30p.m. Walkabout: Mary Katherine Fields. Walkabout will run until 4:30 p.m. most days. A schedule will be provide during the first week. Robotics: Erin Woodrow. Robotics will run until 4:30 p.m. .
