Tamisha Franklin Tamisha's work was honored with the "Best of Show" award at last year's Houston Women's Festival. 8:15 Liviya Compean At 27 years of age, this young singer/songwriter/ guitarist is proving to be one of Texas' rising stars. Having grown up in a family of musicians, Liviya credits her talent to her grandfather, a well-known musician and score writer, as well as to her Higher Power. Liviya is never far from her family; her father plays horns in the band and her brother plays drums. With the band, Liviya creates a unique style of music that is best described as a combination of rock, funk and Latin jazz. Her compelling vocal range and powerful stage presence led to her inclu- sion in a "Dueling Divas of Rock" national competi- tion. Liviya performed as a soloist at the first Houston Women's Festivalin 1995.
