SPEAKERS Ally Gray (EmuBands) Twitter: @EmuBands Ally is Managing Director and co-founder of EmuBands, as well as a board member of the Scottish Music Industry Association and a music industry mentor for the Music+ project. As well as digital distribution, Ally has experience in concert promotion and artist management, and regularly lectures at colleges and universities on both the music industry in general and digital distribution specifically. Charlotte Brimner (Be Charlotte) Twitter: @IAmBeCharlotte Be Charlotte is a 19 year old songwriter / producer and performer from Dundee. She uses digital programming and instrumentation to write and perform quirky, meaningful pop music based on story telling from a different perspective from many other pop artists. Her focus is on allowing her music to give voice to her reality, and the songs are an extension of her personality proving that pop music does not necessarily need to be put in a box of cliches. Be Charlotte is one of two artists selected to represent BBC Radio 1 at Eurosonic in The Netherlands as part of her debut European tour. She recently toured in South East Asia and will also be showcasing at South By South West in Austin, Texas as well as The Great Escape in Brighton. Chris Beltran (DF Concerts) Twitter: @Chris__Beltran Chris is a musician, an Assistant Booker at DF Concerts and regional scout for Atlantic Records. His ear is very much to the ground when it comes to under the radar acts in Scotland. As part of the booking team at DF, Chris's job is to book local acts for all the company's shows. He promotes his own shows in King Tut's Wah Wah Hut and programmes the venues Summer Nights and New Year's Revolution Festivals which showcase the countries best in undiscovered and under the radar music. For his age, Chris has had a lot of different experiences in music from touring and performing with bands to writing/producing music for other artists as well as his current work for DF concerts. Jannica Honey (Photographer) Twitter: @jannicahoney Award-winning photographer Jannica Honey, has extensive experience shooting a wide range of subjects in music, arts and fashion. Her work has been published in The Guardian, The List, The Scotsman, The Sunday Herald, Vogue and Dazed & Confused. She has photographed numerous acts including Scottish artists Frightened Rabbit, Emma Pollock, Kathryn Joseph and Young Fathers. Joe Rattray (Synergy Concerts) Twitter: @joerattray Joe has worked professionally as a musician since graduating from Strathclyde’s BA Applied Music course in 2009, playing bass in Scottish band Admiral Fallow and as a session musician for many other artists. In 2014 he joined Synergy Concerts as booking assistant and also works as the in-house venue booker at The Hug and Pint. He has toured worldwide playing festivals such as SXSW, Culture Collide in Los Angeles, Reeperbahn Festival, Australasian Worldwide Music Expo in Melbourne as well as many UK venues and festivals. Michael Lambert (Born To Be Wide & A Modern Way) Twitter: @AMWmichael Michael Lambert is the co-owner of A Modern Way Management & Recordings which looks after acts including Fatherson, Idlewild, Roddy Woomble, Stanley Odd, Future Get Down and Tom Joshua. He is also a director of music industry event organisation Born To Be Wide, which stages regular music business events, as well as organising Scotland's only music industry convention Wide Days. Maya Medvesek (Nightwave) Twitter: @iamnightwave After moving from her native Ljubljana, Slovenia to Glasgow, via London, in her late teens, Maya Medvesek, better known as Nightwave, has established herself as an internationally renowned DJ, producer, vocalist, club promoter and label boss. On the recording front, as a Red Bull Music Academy alumnus, Nightwave has released across Ministry of Sound, Unknown to the Unknown and Warp, with the BBC Radio 1 playlisted track Surph from Rustie's universally lauded Glass Swords album. Nadine Walker (Tenement TV) Twitter: @nadinettv Nadine is the Editorial Director at Tenement TV and part of the team behind Scotland’s multi-venue music festival Tenement Trail; an independently-run event which sees over 50 bands play 9 venues across one day in Glasgow. Since graduating in journalism in 2012, she has worked on partnerships with T in the Park, Electric Fields and beyond. Nadine has interviewed stars including Nile Rodgers, Kasabian, The Libertines and Bobby Gillespie. She is integral to discovering and promoting emerging talent in Scotland with skills ranging across journalism, marketing, PR, sponsorship and management. Nicky Carder (Beyond Presents) Twitter: @NickyCarder Nicky started her music career performing and running independent gigs in Edinburgh seven years ago, and now works across Scotland. Until May 2015 she was live music manager at Edinburgh venue The Electric Circus, until taking on the role of promoter assistant for Beyond Presents. She also worked as Artist Relations at the Aviemore Stopover Festival where she was responsible for looking after the likes of Mumford & Sons, Primal Scream and Ben Howard. Olaf Furniss (Born To Be Wide & Scotland on Sunday) Twitter: @olafwide Olaf Furniss is a journalist, music business event organiser and founder of the Born To Be Wide organisation. He co-writes the weekly Under The Radar column in Scotland on Sunday, which focuses exclusively on emerging Scottish talent, and his work has appeared in numerous media including the BBC, Music Week, Billboard, The Guardian, I-Q and Clash. He has acted as a consultant for some of Europe's key music business events, and since 2010 he has used this experience to develop Scotland's music convention, Wide Days. Tallah Brash (The Skinny) Twitter: @Tallah Tallah Brash took on the role of Music Editor for The Skinny in Scotland at the beginning of October, having previously worked her way up from Marketing Manager and Live Booker to Venue Manager at the Electric Circus. As well as being an ex-member of Jesus H. Foxx, Tallah still DJs at various nights at Electric Circus and also co-runs Kitchen Disco - a blog for music and baking. She was previously in charge of PR at Cabaret Voltaire, was head of Edinburgh University radio station Fresh Air and used to co-promote This Is Music, a night featuring emerging Scottish acts. Toni Malyn (EmuBands) Twitter: @EmuBands / @ToniMalyn Toni has been a part of the EmuBands team since 2012 and has a degree in Commercial Music from the University of the West of Scotland. He also helps to run Instinctive Racoon, a micro-indie label based in Glasgow, responsible for releasing a number of Albums, EPs and Singles, from acts such as Three Blind Wolves, Washington Irving and Over The Wall.
