PORTS AND YACHTING DIRECTORATE LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS No 105 of 2019 Our Ref: TM/PYD/132/89 19 August 2019 Filming outside Marsamxett Harbour and inside the Grand harbour, Valletta - The story of my wife The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies mariners and operators of vessels, that filming activities will take place outside Marsamxett Harbour at point A (as indicated on attached chart) and at Boiler Wharf inside the Grand Harbour, Valletta. The filming will take place on Friday 23 rd August 2019 and Saturday 24 th August 2019. The filming involves the use of the vessel UTEC Surveyor as a prop and she will be towed by the tug boats Sea Wolf and Sea Jaguar whenever it has to be moved. Friday 23 rd August 2019: 0600 hours UTEC Surveyor will be towed from Cassar Shipyard to be moored at Boiler Wharf. 0900 hours UTEC Surveyor towed from Boiler Wharf to outside Marsamxett Harbour where filming onboard the vessel will commence. In the afternoon the UTEC Surveyor will be towed again to Boiler Wharf where filming will take place from arrival to midnight. Saturday 24 th August 2019: 0900 hours UTEC Surveyor towed from Boiler Wharf to outside Marsamxett Harbour where filming onboard the vessel will commence. In the afternoon the UTEC Surveyor will be towed again to Boiler Wharf where filming will take place from arrival to midnight. Monday 26 th August 2019: In the afternoon the UTEC Surveyor will be towed back to Cassar Shipyard. Mariners are to note the above and give a wide berth while the UTEC Surveyor is being towed and while it is anchored at point A (as indicated on attached chart). -

Malta and Gozo - Experiences of a study tour from 14th to 21st September 2019 Text and Photos: Hans-Rudolf Neumann Saturday, 14th September 2019 The morning flight from Berlin via Frankfurt Main to Malta with Lufthansa ran without any incidents. But check-in service in Berlin leaves a lot to be desired; the transition to digital full automation to reduce staff provoked the oppo- site effect. Luggage check-in and boarding on two different ends of the airport caused anno- yance, while during boarding two flights were serviced on the same counter. One two Warsaw and one to Frankfurt Main – the line on luggage security was more than 200 people and it was safe to ask the pilot again if this is the right plane when entering the plane. Structural Business Statistics: 2019
8 July 2021 | 1100 hrs | 120/2021 Micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) accounted for 69.3% of the combined Personnel Costs and Gross Operating Surplus (GOS) generated by the non-financial business economy in 2019, compared to a share of 68.3% in 2018. Structural Business Statistics: 2019 Cut-off date: In 2019, the non-financial business economy in Malta incorporating Industry, Construction, Wholesale and retail 30 June 2021 trade and Services activities generated €3,882.1 million in GOS (or profits) and paid out €3,328.1 million in Personnel costs to its employees. SMEs registered an increase in these two variables of 13.0 and 10.3 per cent respectively, when compared to 2018. Large enterprises earned €1,218.3 million in GOS and when compared to the other three size categories of SMEs independently, they contributed to the highest values of Turnover, Production and Personnel costs. The largest share (31.4 per cent) of Persons employed in Malta were employed with micro enterprises (Table 2). Chart 1. For the same period, the large enterprises registered an increase in the number of Persons employed and Personnel costs of 4.4 per cent and 4.9 per cent respectively. Turnover and GOS generated by large enterprises increased by 7.7 per cent and 8.3 per cent respectively. -
Part 4: Conclusions and Recommendations & Appendices
Twentieth Century Naval Dockyards Devonport and Portsmouth: Characterisation Report PART FOUR CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS The final focus of this report is to develop the local, national and international contexts of the two dockyards to highlight specific areas of future research. Future discussion of Devonport and Portsmouth as distinct designed landscapes would coherently organise the many strands identified in this report. The Museum of London Archaeology Portsmouth Harbour Hinterland Project carried out for Heritage England (2015) is a promising step in this direction. It is emphasised that this study is just a start. By delivering the aim and objectives, it has indicated areas of further fruitful research. Project aim: to characterise the development of the active naval dockyards at Devonport and Portsmouth, and the facilities within the dockyard boundaries at their maximum extent during the twentieth century, through library, archival and field surveys, presented and analysed in a published report, with a database of documentary and building reports. This has been delivered through Parts 1-4 and Appendices 2-4. Project objectives 1 To provide an overview of the twentieth century development of English naval dockyards, related to historical precedent, national foreign policy and naval strategy. 2 To address the main chronological development phases to accommodate new types of vessels and technologies of the naval dockyards at Devonport and Portsmouth. 3 To identify the major twentieth century naval technological revolutions which affected British naval dockyards. 4 To relate the main chronological phases to topographic development of the yards and changing technological and strategic needs, and identify other significant factors. 5 To distinguish which buildings are typical of the twentieth century naval dockyards and/or of unique interest. -

He is Area Co- ordinator for the Humanities at the Junior College where he is also Subject Co-ordinator in- charge of the Department of Sociology. He holds degrees from the University of Malta, obtaining his Ph.D. with a thesis entitled Prelude to the Emergence of an Organised Teaching Corps. Dr. Cassar is author of a number of articles and chapters, including ‘A glimpse at private education in Malta 1800-1919’ (Melita Historica, The Malta Historical Society, 2000), ‘Glimpses from a people’s heritage’ (Annual Report and Financial Statement 2000, First International Merchant Bank Ltd., 2001) and ‘A village school in Malta: Mosta Primary School 1840-1940’ (Yesterday’s Schools: Readings in Maltese Educational History, PEG, 2001). Cassar also published a number of books, namely, Il-Mużew Marittimu Il-Birgu - Żjara edukattiva għall-iskejjel (co-author, 1997); Għaxar Fuljetti Simulati għall-użu fit- tagħlim ta’ l-Istorja (1999); Aspetti mill-Istorja ta’ Malta fi Żmien l-ingliżi: Ktieb ta’ Riżorsi (2000) (all Għaqda ta’ l-Għalliema ta’ l-Istorja publications); Ġrajja ta’ Skola: L-Iskola Primarja tal-Mosta fis-Sekli Dsatax u Għoxrin (1999) and Kun Af il-Mosta Aħjar: Ġabra ta’ Tagħlim u Taħriġ (2000) (both Mosta Local Council publications). He is also researcher and compiler of the website of the Mosta Local Council launched in 2001. Cassar is editor of the journal Sacra Militia published by the Sacra Militia Foundation and member on The Victoria Lines Action Committee in charge of the educational aspects.
