REISEABLAUF 5 Tage / 4 Nächte Negombo – Dambulla – Sigiriya – Minneriya – Kandy – Nuwara Eliya – Negombo Day 01: Negombo – Dambulla Pick up from the hotel at Negombo at 0900hrs. Thereafter, travel to Dambulla. Upon arrival to Dambulla, visit the Golden Temple at Dambulla. Dambulla Cave Temples, vast isolated rock mass 500 feet high and a mile around the base. Here is found the famous Rock Temple dating to the First Century B.C. The caves of Dambulla sheltered King Walagamba during his 14 years of exile from Anuradhapura. When he regained the throne he built the most magnificent of Rock Temples to be found in the Island. Thereafter check-in to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Day 02: Dambulla – Sigiriya – Minneriya – Dambulla Breakfast at the hotel and travel to Sigiriya. Visit the very impressive 5th century Sigiriya Rock Fortress. This world heritage site, consists of the remains of a palace on the top of the rock, a mid-level terrace that includes the Lion Gate and the mirror wall with its frescoes of the 'Heavenly Maidens', the lower palace on the slopes below the rock, and the moats, walls and water gardens that extend for some hundreds of metres out from the base. Thereafter travel to Minneriya for the National Park safari. Located between Habarana and Polonnaruwa, the 8,890 hectares of Minneriya National Park consists of mixed evergreen forest and scrub areas and is home to favorites such as sambar deer, leopards and elephants. However the central feature of the park is the ancient Minneriya Tank (built in 3rd century AD by King Mahasena). During the dry season (June to September), this tank is an incredible place to observe the elephants who come to bathe and graze, as well as the huge flocks of birds (cormorants and painted storks to name but a few) that come to fish in the shallow waters. Return back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Day 03: Dambulla – Matale – Kandy Breakfast at the hotel and travel to Matale. Walk into a garden full of spices and herbs. The spice gardens are a fine specimen to observe various types of herbs and plants that could be used for different purposes. The guide will walk you through the spice garden, showing the plants and explaining the uses and the products that could be produced from them. Finally, the shop would be a great location to purchase different types of products that are produced from the plants and herbs. Thereafter proceed to Kandy. It was the last capital of the ancient kings' era of Sri Lanka. The city lies in the midst of hills in the Kandy plateau, which crosses an area of tropical plantations, mainly tea. Kandy is one of the most scenic cities in Sri Lanka; it is both an administrative and religious city. It is the capital of the Central Province (which encompasses the districts of Kandy, Matale and Nuwara Eliya) and also of Kandy District. Kandy is the home of The Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa) one of the most venerable places for the Buddhist community of Sri Lanka and all around the world. It was declared a world heritage by the UNESCO in 1988. Visit the Kandy temple, enjoy a city tour in Kandy including the cultural dance show with fire walk show in the evening. Check-in to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Day 04: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya After breakfast at the hotel, it is suggested to travel to the hill country of Nuwara Eliya, also the home of the tea plantation in Sri Lanka. Enjoy a magical train journey through the mountains that will make your journey more colourful and exciting as you pass misty hills, silvery white clouds caped valley, tea carpeted fields and beautifully cascaded waterfalls that breaks into a series of mini waterfalls. Your chauffer guide will pick you at the Nanu Oya Station to be driven to a tea factory in Nuwara Eliya so that you can get to learn about how tea is processed in the factory, blended into many shades of flavours and aroma that will give you an detailed experience at a tea factory. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel. Day 05: Nuwara Eliya - Negombo Breakfast at the hotel and travel to Negombo.
