TABLE OF CONTENTS & CONTACT INFORMATION 2 WELCOME TO CAMP/WHAT TO PACK Welcome 2021 Campers! We are very excited to get this summer started. The past year has definitely presented us with a few challenges. We are looking forward to getting together once again and have prepared a fantastic lineup with safety always a top priority. Our summer camps follow health and safety guidelines set by Ottawa Public Health, and groups are set at a manageable size with these recommendations in mind. Camps this summer will be taking advantage of the great outdoors as much as possible to make for a safe and fun summer. Camp Packing List Each day, ALL campers - including those in Specialty Camps - must bring the following items in a backpack (please make sure all items are labelled): • 2 Masks: 1 to wear and one in case it gets dirty • Travel Sanitizer (*see below) • Refillable Water Bottle • Lunch/Snacks (Must Be Nut-free) • Comfortable Running Shoes • Bathing Suit • Towel • Change of Clothes • Sunscreen (Must Be Nut-free/SPF 30+) • Appropriate Clothing To Suit The Weather (e.g. rain poncho) • Plastic Bag For Wet Clothes • Sunglasses • Hat • Any additional items asked as requested by staff *OSCA provides hand sanitizer for all camps. If you wish to send your child with sanitizer, please send a travel sized container. WELCOME TO CAMP/WHAT TO PACK 3 CAMPS AT OSCA What's New For Summer 2021? Though we are nearing the end of the pandemic, the situation is still evolving, and it’s difficult to predict what rules & restrictions will look like when summer camps are set to begin. Despite this, the team at OSCA is confident in our ability to keep everyone safe while having a ton of fun. We resumed our After-4 program in September of 2020 and have learned so much about running programs during a pandemic in the months since. Operating summer camps will require diligence and care. Camp Managers Darcy Middaugh Darcy has been at the Firehall since the '90s and has been working as a Preschool/Child Coordinator for the last number of years. He has developed and implemented many programs for children, youth, and seniors during his time and is dedicated to offering great activities for all ages. Katherine Boisvert Katherine has a diploma in Early Childhood Education and has a passion for working with children of all ages and stages. She began working at the Firehall one morning a week 12 years ago in what is now known as our Busy Kids playgroup. In November 2015, she joined our After-Four program as the Grade 1-3's coordinator. Katherine's creative side can be seen in the crafts the children create in her programs. If a Member chooses not to have a designated traveller, that Member’s name does not appear on the Public Registry of Designated Travellers.     Members to vote on bylaw change that realign RNAO’s chapter boundaries t a meeting of RNAO’s board of directors held Feb. 22, 2020, and following consultation with members at the Feb. 21, 2020 assembly meeting, a motion was passed to approve a proposed amendment to ABylaw 3.0. The board proposal would alter chapter and region boundaries so they follow boundaries of Ontario’s provincial electoral ridings. The proposed change is designed to better position how RNAO’s membership is organized geographically across the province with the political activities of the association. Ontario changed its riding boundaries ahead of the 2018 provincial election so its ridings were more closely aligned with federal ridings, which changed for the 2015 federal election. The board believes the proposed change would continue to foster and strengthen relationships members and chapter executives, in particular, have created with MPPs and MPs and facilitate future political action at the municipal level where responsibility for so many issues related to determinants of health lies. Currently, ridings in some chapters crossover into neighbouring chapters, which can lead to confusion and splits responsibility for organizing political action events among chapters. Realigning chapters would also provide members with the opportunity to create stronger relationships with their community leaders and local media. Under the proposed amendment, no new regions would be created; however, chapter boundary changes will have implications for region boundaries thereby triggering the need for the bylaw change. Four new chapters would be created: York East, York West, Mississauga and Brampton. The proposed realignment would add four consultation representatives to RNAO’s network of voting delegates.
