Welcome 2021 Campers! We are very excited to get this summer started. The past year has definitely presented us with a few challenges. We are looking forward to getting together once again and have prepared a fantastic lineup with safety always a top priority. Our summer camps follow health and safety guidelines set by Public Health, and groups are set at a manageable size with these recommendations in mind. Camps this summer will be taking advantage of the great outdoors as much as possible to make for a safe and fun summer.

Camp Packing List Each day, ALL campers - including those in Specialty Camps - must bring the following items in a backpack (please make sure all items are labelled):

• 2 Masks: 1 to wear and one in case it gets dirty • Travel Sanitizer (*see below) • Refillable Water Bottle • Lunch/Snacks (Must Be Nut-free) • Comfortable Running Shoes • Bathing Suit • Towel • Change of Clothes • Sunscreen (Must Be Nut-free/SPF 30+) • Appropriate Clothing To Suit The Weather (e.g. rain poncho) • Plastic Bag For Wet Clothes • Sunglasses • Hat • Any additional items asked as requested by staff

WELCOME TO CAMP/WHAT TO PACK 3 CAMPS AT OSCA What's New For Summer 2021?

Though we are nearing the end of the pandemic, the situation is still evolving, and it’s difficult to predict what rules & restrictions will look like when summer camps are set to begin. Despite this, the team at OSCA is confident in our ability to keep everyone safe while having a ton of fun. We resumed our After-4 program in September of 2020 and have learned so much about running programs during a pandemic in the months since.

Operating summer camps will require diligence and care. Darcy has been at the Firehall since the '90s and has been working as a Preschool/Child Coordinator for the last number of years. He has developed and implemented many programs for children, youth, and seniors during his time and is dedicated to offering great activities for all ages.

Katherine Boisvert

Katherine has a diploma in Early Childhood Education and has a passion for working with children of all ages and stages. She began working at the Firehall one morning a week 12 years ago in what is now known as our Busy Kids playgroup. In November 2015, she joined our After-Four program as the Grade 1-3's coordinator. Katherine's creative side can be seen in the crafts the children create in her programs.

Any changes will be posted online and on social media* BIKE CAMPS These new camps use our favourite method of transportation...bikes! We will be travelling Ottawa's bike paths to enjoy some of our favourite destinations. Bikes must be in good condition (road-worthy) and a suitable size for the participant to operate safely. Riders must be capable of operating their bike safely. Properly fitting CSA- approved helmets are also required as well as a bike lock.

Out and About is our bike camp for younger children. Trips are to local parks and other destinations in our area. If your child is 11, you have the option of selecting this camp or if you feel your child is able to keep up with older children, signing up for Nomads. All camps run from 9 AM-4 PM. Drop off starts at 8:45 AM. OUT AND ABOUT Ages 8-11

Nomads travel to destinations around the city using bike paths whenever possible and quiet streets when paths are not available. Since the destinations may take longer travel time in this group, riders must be able to follow directions from staff and keep up with the group. All camps run from 9 AM-4 PM. This summer, we are excited to be able to bring back pottery programs for children. Here are some of the safety measures OSCA is putting in place:

During this two-week camp, participants will be exposed to both creative hand building and wheel throwing. Decorating with colourful glazes will also be covered.
