RIVER DERWENT CATCHMENT BOARD It is barely a hundred years since the artificial draining of Agricultural land in Great Britain was systematically taken in hand because the growth of population increased the demand for food. At first everybody concerned put his energies into "field drainage" while the effect upon main rivers was not considered, but as time went on and towns absorbed all the increase in population (which is now four times as great as that of 1811) the effect of Land Drainage became evident, and floods of the greater rivers grew more sudden and were the cause of serious inconvenience to the population dwelling in the houses along their banks.

Each course has its own row, which should be read from left to right, starting with the ‘level of study’, followed by the Course Code (a list of letters and numbers; for example, 4UBFCUOCCREWR0). When you have selected the course you want to apply for, you will need to include the course code on your application form.
